More misery for Celtic B as they crash to defeat at Bo’ness

Celtic’s B team lost 1-0 away to Bo’ness United last night in the Lowland League.

After11 matches in the Lowland League Celtic have picked up just 13 points and sit in 13th place out of 18, last night’s win lifted Bo’ness into fourth place.

Running away with the title wouldn’t really prove anything but losing six matches against part-time opponents must surely be a worrying sign for those inside the club.

Developing players towards the first team takes priority over results but it is hard to see how losing regularly to opponents in the fifth/sixth tier of Scottish football is likely to produce future top team players.

Darren O’Dea puts a brave front on set-backs but it seems that the club is struggling to bring through players of a sufficient quality with their post Academy development not helped by playing in the Lowland League.

Tobi Oluwayemi and Matthew Anderson are out on loan at Admira Wacker while Ben McPherson and Ben Summers are closer to home with Dunfermline and Queens Park.

On Friday Celtic travel to face Hearts B in the Lowland League before taking on Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Youth League. Last week the u-18’s were knocked out of the SFA Youth Cup by Montrose.

Was there not a decent reserve league that produced some good but Sevco wanted rid of it…

And what Sevco wants – Sevco must get M’lord –

And The SFA dog of course was duly wagged by it’s beloved Sevco tail !

It seems to me the ‘development’ squad is a waste of time and money as history tells us we bring very few throught to the 1st team. Whether it’s management or what I don’t know but if we concentrate instead on bringing in proven talent when we need to and spend more per head whilst bringing less in ‘projects’, I think we’ll end up with a much better 1st team squad.

At the end of the day that should be the SOLE aim of Celtic FC and I hope the Board of the PLC have enough about them to see that but I seriously doubt they have and we’ll just get more of the same.

In fact, get the Board tae fukk and bring in Celtic supporters in their place.

We badly need a total revamp of the entire youth setup, someone who can re-energise the club at all levels from coaching / scouting and promoting young players. With so many subs now allowed, it should be easy to introduce players to the top team, giving them 10-20 mins when a game is won.

But given the level of coaching in Scotland, I think we would need to invest in some foreign coaches be it French, Spanish, German, Portugese, Italian, even Japanese just fresh ideas, a new approach. As it’s clear what we are doing right now doesn’t work
