John McGinn has hit out at the refereeing by Serder Gozubuyuk in Scotland’s 2-0 defeat from Spain.
The level of irony of an SFA player complaining about refereeing decisions and the interpretation of VAR decisions is incredible.
Virtually every week puzzling decisions occur in SPFL matches, incredibly one club has gone 62 matches without having a penalty awarded against them. When VAR was introduced a year ago two penalties were awarded against Celtic within 90 minutes.
It was a certainly a ‘puzzling’ performance from Gozubuyuk but on a par with Nick Walsh, John Beaton, Steven McLean, Alan Muir, Don Robertson, Willie Collum and the rest of the infallibles from the SFA.
McGinn was interviewed after the match by Viaplay Sports with The Sun reporting the Aston Villa midfielder saying:
It’s very difficult to win here but under the circumstances it was near enough impossible.
You need to be very careful what you say. I think everyone watching that game from Scotland point of view – whether on the pitch, in the stand or in the dugout – it just felt like we weren’t getting the decision.
50/50 balls, going in for fair challenges not getting them. It made it extremely difficult against a world class team to try and get anything from the game.
The stats will show they had a lot of the ball, a lot better chances. But you need a perfect performance here to win and everything to align and tonight it was just never going to happen.
With two matches left to play Scotland require one more point to ensure qualification to the European Championships or Norway to fail to beat Spain on Sunday.
“Well he changed it in game, which is the frustrating thing which shows it’s not clear and obvious.”
John McGinn feels tonight’s result is tough to take. ???????#EURO2024 pic.twitter.com/2oT7uTvdkg

Could it be that the ref. was told to go to the monitor, and find something, anything, to chalk that goal off, Spain must be at the Euros? Just a thought!
Exactly Ianb… “Spain must be at The Euro’s – Just like Sevco must be winning The SPFHell !
I think the offside decision got Hendry out of jail because he stupidly pushed the goalkeaper into the goals. It would have been disallowed for a foul, a stupid one, if he hadn’t been offside. What was he thinking?
McGinn’s two feet clearly weren’t aligned or they might have got something from the game!
Steven
“Tommo”
Thomson thought Scotland did alright.
At 0-1 to Spain he thought Clarke would be pwoud of his players, as the game was going to plan!
That’s what he said!
Kaaaarrrrrmmmmmaaaaaa for The SFA !
And one word today today to The SFA = SCHADENFREUDE !!!!
Let the bar stewards squirm in their shite for a bit…
I still think Scotland will be ok and qualify !
Those pesky anomalies again!
Uefa is corrupt just like FIFA, Scotland had no chance of winning due to uefa wanting the bigger nations in it due to population size.
