Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he is waiting on news of an MRI scan on Cameron Carter-Vickers hamstring.

The defender was substituted at half-time during Wednesday’s victory over Hibs as a precaution but spent six weeks on the sidelines earlier in the season with a similar injury.

Since returning at the start of October Carter-Vickers has been the regular partner to Liam Scales with Rodgers keen for consistency of selection in that area of the team.

With seven matches to be played before the winter break having the former Spurs man anchoring the centre of defence would give Celtic’s title hopes a big boost.

Asked about his fitness Rodgers admitted:

We’ll assess Cam over the next couple of days. He didn’t pull his hamstring but we just had an MRI scan on that to make sure he’s OK. We’ll await the results of that.

Asked whether the defender would be playing on Sunday Rodgers replied:

Well, if the scan shows nothing, then clearly.

Nat Phillips replaced Carter-Vickers at half time against Hibs but looked far from comfortable even though Celtic were leading 4-0 after an hour of the match.

Gus Lagerbielke, Maik Nawrocki and Stephen Welsh are all fit and available but only the Swede has played since August.
