If Brendan Rodgers was in any doubt a look at Titter tonight will conform that his honeymoon is well and truly over, some are suggesting that the marriage is already on the rocks.
Today’s defeat at Kilmarnock wasn’t a shock or out of the blue. It has been coming for a while, it could have been Motherwell or St Johnstone, Kilmarnock didn’t require luck any honest mistakes.
The better team won, the better manager won. Derek McInnes influenced the game with a change in tactics, Brendan Rodgers looked as if he would rather have been somewhere else.
Any Celtic fan staying with Sky Sports for the Spurs v Newcastle match would have been weeping at the comparison. Even after taking one point from five matches the Spurs players have a belief in their manager. Sensing weakness in their opponents they buried Newcastle.
I’ve really tried not to tweet this, I don’t want to be negative but it’s time to be honest.
The football we’re playing under Rodgers is dreadful, I’ve not idea what style we’re trying to implement.
Too many matches this season have been an utterly painful watch.
The players…

Rodgers knew exactly what he was getting in to back in June, no one could have been better prepared for the job.
Dermot Desmond made the initial contact, Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay flew to Mallorca to discuss a deal with Rodgers returning to a club four more years shaped in the image of Peter Lawwell.
He got the assurances that not only was the club operating differently but he told the fans that young Mark was doing a fantastic job in recruitment. One of the reasons for returning.
Only Luis Palma of the seven summer signings made the Starting XI for today’s match, the manager isn’t convinced by the signings that he approved of.
There is uncertainty in the play and tactics. Injuries have had an impact but Kyogo Furuhashi and Alistair Johnston are a shadow of last season’s star men.
During the summer a new goalkeeper and left-back were the modest expectations of most fans. It is hard to argue with the view that last season was as good as it gets for Joe Hart and Greg Taylor, both are still assured of their places in the side.
This time around Rodgers took over a treble-winning squad, the results have deteriorated with little in the way of style or entertainment on offer.
Having done his due diligence before taking the job on responsibility lies firmly with the manager, January will demonstrate whether he has the answers.
We only lost Jota/Starfelt from last season, massive drop off in performances there’s no hiding that.

Don’t forget lawell didn’t want Rodgers back
— TIM TAXIS (@cubanturkey) December 10, 2023
Spot on , our football is pathetic so far under Rodgers.
— Jim Madden (@madden_jim41642) December 10, 2023
Taylor Phillips and Mikey Johnstone are rank rotten. £72 million in the bank rank rotten in Europe and can’t win at home with pishy teams like Kilmarnock. The Board though awards themselves 66% payrise and Lawell Junior still head scout awful
— Ruby (@RubyfruitClub) December 10, 2023
Boardroom, recruitment first. Lose jota lose Hatate Maeda and Abada to injury throw in CCV too
Replace them with sub standard cheap projects and there you have it.
The absolute arrogant by the Board has been disgusting .
— Clem fandango (@Chalky8hoy) December 10, 2023
The fact that Phillips is playing is entirely down to the manager.

Deeper issues at the club I think. Players chucked it 2nd half. Feels like the covid season
— Martin W (@mwillmott68) December 10, 2023
Possession for possessions sake it’s what Rodgers does it would bore you to tears that’s why I never wanted him back , aye he was good at certain points but I think he’s yesterdays man , football changes and his style of play is boring .
— vinny jack (@vinnyjack1) December 10, 2023
Goes deeper than that. Boardroom hiring the chairman’s son as head of recruitment etc
— Patrick Murphy (@PatrickMurphy89) December 10, 2023
Worse than that, Rodgers doesn’t know what style he’s playing ….. freelance I think.
— Raymy (@RaymundMcGrath) December 10, 2023
You’re absolutely spot on, I always try to find the positives but the performances are so uninspiring. Serious question marks over Rodgers now.

BR has just been as bad as some of the players today.
Kilmarnock were excellent in the second half and he did nothing to change it up.

Let’s get injuries out of the way:
EVERY club has periods of injuries / suspensions during a long season.
With our resources, our club is better placed than most SPL clubs.
Is there something going on behind the scenes at CFC?
Both BR and the team look totally out of sorts.
And NOT just because of today’s result:
we’ve been mince most of this season so far.
And yes, we are top of the league – currently – and have the SC to play for.
But, the summer transfer business, and performances so far seem to
confirm that the club has reverted to type:
instead of building from a position of strength, the team stagnates,
goes backwards, and – eventually – there is a reaction to change things.
‘Progress in Europe’!
Remember that? What a load of b*llox!
Complacency and hubris.
The fact Mikey Johnson pulls on a hoops Jersey says it all for me. Never ever anywhere near good enough but starts before others is embarrassing. Worst player on park at Somerset Ayr when he should have been the best player and Kennedy / Strachan watched it.
It was nothing to do with Lawell, it was Dermot Desmond who wanted Rodgers.
And social media will be filled with greetin’ faced supporters…who still buy a ST…My message..?? Get stuffed the lot of you…Our Club is being run for profit…and gain, pure and simple..If we win things…that’s a bonus….But cash is king when it comes to Celtic.. and it was always thus.

I said on this site months ago Rodgers only came back for the 3 million plus wage he has no interest in this team forget the Bull 30 million kitty he knew it wasn’t happening he almost admitted it in recent interviews (I only deal with what I’m given) he is just a puppet for his master Lawwell
‘Don’t forget Lawwell didn’t want Rodgers back’?
A’s a good one!
The “Outstanding Candidate”
as I remember!
Just like Lennon a la shower!
Starting to see through the machinations of Scottish football now.
Who was it said
“Vanity, all Is Vanity”?
