Kevin Clancy safely took the run of SPFL games without a penalty being awarded against the Ibrox club to 71 today with Dundee the victims at Ibrox this afternoon.
It was an awkward match for the home side who fell behind in the fifth minute but after Cyriel Dessers equalised Clancy was pointing to the penalty spot allowing James Tavernier to do the needful.
A VAR review at the end of the first half resulted in a red card for Jose Cifuentes who should now miss the League Cup Final against Aberdeen but any appeal is likely to be looked on favourably.
Stonewaller first point of contact in the box VAR would have confirmed it. Why not used ?

Playing against 10 men Dundee had a decent shout for a penalty when Dujon Sterling, moving into the penalty box fouled Cammy Kerr. Clancy was very close to the contact, awarded a free kick at the edge of the penalty box with no VAR consultation required.
Back in January 2022 Clancy was the last referee to award a penalty against the Ibrox club, since then Aberdeen and the Tribute Act have both appointed two new managers and there has been two new UK Prime Ministers.
During the same 23 month time period four penalties have been awarded against the Tribute Act in matches run by UEFA with non-Scottish referees.
