Gus Lagerbielke was the unlikely hero as Celtic ended a 10 year wait for a home win in the Champions League.

The Swede hasn’t played for three months but right on the 90th minute he popped up three yards from goal to head home a brilliantly placed cross from Matt O’Riley.

It had been a typical roller-coaster Champions League night for the hoops with Luis Palma opening the scoring from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute after Liam Scales was wrestled to the ground.

In the 75th minute Celtic were forced into a couple of changes with Stephen Welsh and Palma going off with Lagerbielke and Mitchell Frame coming on.

With eight minutes left to play Yankuba Minteh equalised unmarked at the back post but there was more drama to come.

Callum McGregor sent a 28 yard drive against the crossbar but soon afterwards Lagerbielke was the hero to pocket 2.8m euros and a first Champions League win since October 2017 away to Anderlecht.

    Onwards and upwards!

    A much needed morale booster.

Just need to kick on now – and do the business on the 30th. 🙂

Chuffed with the result, 4 points better than 1 point imagine that little old us finished on the same points as the mighty Man Utd and didn’t spend £500 million in the process. We may still be out of the CL but so are they, it might shut some twat Simon loud mouth Jordan from down south pulling us into the equation. I am not even going to mention the bonus money as tonight for me the cherry on top was watching the venomous K.B getting his arse handed to him by Paul Merson when he suggested that Eddie Howe is on a shaky nail with the outcome tonight. I am sure you will all see it at some point today. Tremendous. Oh, strangely enough the toon are out of CL as well.
