After the backlash to his tweet that Celtic were ‘working hard’ to sign a left-back before the transfer window closes Mark Hendry has quickly corrected his tweet.
According to the Football Scotland reporter the club has been working really, really, really hard all year round to sign a left-back as highlighted by the failures to sign Owen Beck or Tiago Araujo.
Between the lines, or tweets, it looks like Hendry has been quickly contacted by a panicked Celtic insider who didn’t like the way that his original tweet was going down on the internet.
For anyone who has taken this wrong way: Celtic have wanted a left-back since before window opened, as my report on Tiago Araujo and Owen Beck has highlighted. Since Taylor’s injury was confirmed, it’s been an even stronger push. https://t.co/RYexp1VkKE

After highlighting the ‘working hard’ aspect the story put out by Video Celts was viewed 8,000 times between 9pm last night and 8am this morning.
With many Celtic fans feeling anywhere between concerned, frustrated and angry at the lack of transfer activity, especially in relation to the left-back and striker position the club appears to be growing sensitive to reactions.
The announcement of an extended contract for Cameron Carter-Vickers is very welcome but doing that in the final week of the transfer window suggests that there is unlikely to be much in the way of incoming activity.
Someone obviously thought that getting the message out that the club was ‘working hard’ would be well received, once again the hierarchy are completely out of tune with the support and classically failing to read the room.

Teams don’t sell their best players in January, it’s a poor month for doing business. We’ve got miles more quality than them all & with 4 players returning in 2 weeks we’ll be more than fine. The moves for the summer & UEFA CL will be the significant ones they will be the starters. We’re lightyears ahead with zero additions & I remember fans clamouring for giving our youth a chance a couple of months ago. Let’s do that & buy the right players in the summer when the real work is done. Time for cool heads! HH!
Editor: Best wishes to Paul and the lads over at CQN.
Great, all good then. Thanks for clearing that up.
Thanks for those reassuring words Peter.
I want some of what he’s smoking or is he convert to ‘Deludemol’?
Hilarious ed, love it.
Ahh the old, January is not a good window chestnut.Neither is the summer with this backroom team. Ange got Hatate, OReilly, Maeda one year, ahh yeah that was without these imposters. The team is regressing badly, just to let you know if disaster strikes we’re coming for the board’s jobs for extreme negligence.
