Yuki Kobayashi is wanted on loan by two MLS clubs according to Scott Burns of the Daily Record.

Burns is something of a transfer specialist with Kobayashi one of many players that Celtic are looking to move on.

A transfer fee seems unlikely for the 23-year-old who started five SPFL matches last season but hasn’t played in a competitive match since Celtic lost 4-2 to Hibs in May.

In the Record Burns reported:

Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas are keen on a loan deal for Celtic’s Yuki Kobayashi.

The Major League Soccer pair both want the Japanese defender. It is believed the Scottish champions would be open to the moves. Kobayashi has found first-team football hard to come by since Brendan Rodgers returned to Celtic.

Kobayashi was linked with a move to Yokohama F Marinos who are now coached by Harry Kewell but now seems to be heading in a very different direction.

Since the former Vissel Kobe defender last played for Celtic the club has signed Gus Lagerbielke and Maik Nawrocki, signed up Stephen Welsh and Cameron Carter-Vickers on new deals with Liam Scales emerging as a fixture in the side.

In November 2022 Celtic announced the signing of Kobayashi on a five year contract.

The MLS transfer window is open from January 31 to April 23.
