Keith Jackson is expecting Celtic to be busy in the next few days of the transfer window!

Three weeks in and only Nicolas Kuhn has so far arrived, another winger on the back of the summer signings of Luis Palma, Marco Tilio and Yang Hyun-jun.

After being knocked out of the Champions League by Lazio in November Brendan Rodgers revealed that he had been looking for four quality signings since he arrived in June. With Palma the only arrival regularly selected it is safe to assume that the requirements of the former Leicester boss hasn’t been met.

So far it has been slow progress in the January window, under Ange Postecoglou signings were lined up in advance of the window opening, last season Alistair Johnston made his debut at Ibrox on January 2.

Celtic have just one more match, at home to Ross County on Saturday, before the window closes, in their Monday Morning Jury section, the Daily Record asked:

Eleven days remain in the transfer window .. where do you expect to see big arrivals in Scotland, if any?

The first reply was:

KEITH: The Shankland situation will need to be watched closely and a move to Ibrox remains very much on the cards. But Celtic will be busy in the next few days as well. Expect Brendan Rodgers to nail down a No.9 of his own before the market shuts down.

With Daizen Maeda and Oh Hyeon-gyu on duty at the Asian Cup Rocco Vata has unexpectedly emerged as Celtic’s back up striker.

After four appearances off the bench as a winger last season the arrival of three more competitors in that position seems to have convinced the Irish u-21 internationalist to see his future elsewhere.

Yesterday’s goal against Buckie Thistle is unlikely to have changed Celtic’s plans for the remainder of the window but until Jackson’s Number 9 prediction turns up Vata will be Kyogo’s deputy while Japan and South Korea’s are involved in the Asian Cup.

Jackson has strong contacts at Celtic, in June 2021 Peter Lawwell gave his last newspaper interview as CEO to the veteran Record reporter.

Quoting Jackson is the definition of desperate.
    Have a word with yourself.

Editor: Since he is the favourite reporter of the Celtic chairman his thoughts are worth noting. Do you prefer the thoughts of Stephen McGinn or other no-marks?

That clip of BR above is dated 1st December, when he is confirming

what everybody has known since the summer transfer window closed:

we need quality – 4 quality players according to BR.

So, it’s confusing / concerning that depsite this advance, public warning,

we didn’t have any signings announced at the very begining of January.

From what I can rememeber, there weren’t even rumours of us going in

    for various players.

No sense of urgency with recruitment?

A possible explanation is that the club wants players out before

committing to further new players after Kuhn?

But, that would be penny-pinching in the extreme – even for PL?

Kuhn was a ‘project level’ purchase at c.£3M.

Is this to be another underwhelming transfer window,

when squad development / progress is delayed – again – until the

    next transfer window….?

Celtic are trying to get the right player no use just buying for cause media and fans expected it Celtic are a big club in a small pool yes signing for Celtic is big but but big as the club os they play in spl most teams low block (Park the bus) even when Celtic score they try to hold out for last 10 mins and try to come out and try and get a goal yes we play in champions league but that 6 months of lower epl teams can offer more money more competitive league if you buy a player over 8 million the wages are £40,000 and over Celtic can offered that but can’t give every player that and wouldn’t be right

Guys an Idiot to believe Anything Peter Lawwell says…As Soon as PL came back to club any Ambition Celtic had to improve humiliating record in Europe went South..board Only Interested in being Dominant Force in Glasgow boo!! Board ( Peter Lawwell ) Only Interested in signing young Project players boo

  • John says:

Celtic board need no should be doing all they can to put down £30 MILLION to bring in the players BR needs to bolster his squad with 2 or 3 older fit players 30 plus on 18 month contrcts i mean next season in if do get CL then we will need 2 or 3 mercenaries to help us get points in the group so we need those type in soon if not this window then defo next let us stop being the wipping boys of the group spend spend spend so we can compete with stronger teams the board need to give Celtic fc the players need on the pitch .

That clown and his Ibrox fanzine haven’t got a clue who ( if ) we sign anyone

If you want proof on that

Just read that other eejit Scott Burns story yesterday how the Owen Beck thing was moving along rapidly

Then 5 hours later he plays for Liverpool and that’s the end of that

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Sorry Harold – But I’m only reading these guys things if they’re flagged up on here and other Celtic forums as that way I’m not paying for them online or by purchase…

I’ve no idea who the hell Scott Burns is – a Scottish Football Media ‘crayon scribbler’ I presume –

PS – Just ‘read’ could mean two things – 1) advice to read something as in that case I absolutely refuse to pay to do it or 2) that you have yourself Just read something in which it being point 2) Thank You for flagging up more of their daily lies, lies, lies !

      • harold shand says:

        Clachnacuddin .

Scott Burns is another Daily Record moron who sits on Twitter reading gossip on fan sites then turns it into stories

        • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

I’ve never been on Twitter Harold, nor intransijam or Whats up or any of these things the young ones talk about so I won’t miss him then…
