Kyogo Furuhashi’s Asian Cup shock

Kyogo Furuhashi has been left out of Japan’s squad for the Asian Cup. Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate, without a Celtic appearance since October, are included in the squad of 26.

Kyogo has scored for Japan this season in the Kirrin Cup after missing out on the World Cup Finals in Qatar but has again been left out for a major international tournament with Japan among the favourites for the competition.

While it will be a big blow for the player the decision is a massive relief for Celtic who will have their top striker available for some crucial matches. Japan boss Hajime Furuhashi doesn’t seem to have a high opinion of Scotland’s multiple Player of the Year winner.

Home games against Buckie Thistle and Ross County shouldn’t present too much of a problem but having Kyogo available for the matches against Aberdeen and Hibs on February 4 and 7 will be welcomed by Brendan Rodgers and the thousands of Celtic fans that celebrated his winning goal in the Glasgow Derby.

After tomorrow’s match at St Mirren Celtic will lose Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Oh Hyeon-gyu, Yang Hyun-Jun and Marco Tilio.

Can we still ask to have those games postponed, Joe? If Yang and Oh are also away (and Tilio?) then it seems a no-brainer to me.

Editor: If you have three players away you can request postponements, to do so I think would be a sign of weakness and create congestion refitting matches v Ross County at home plus Aberdeen and Hibs away.

Just shows the mindset of coaches some want there players involved in the game but if you only watch highlights or sky poor live tv coverage of spl games in the Glasgow derby you only see what camera sees never see the movement up front of kyoko that’s what I miss not having a ticket to get to games sky didn’t have a camera on 18 yard boxes that is how much they think of our game just bought spl so no other would get it with so many new live webs in compition sfa spl give extended contract with old one still got two years to run yes tv own football I’m a Celtic follower and every week we play same team with different strips well that’s way it looks 11 men in there final third without the ball long units hoping for free kick or long throw into box corners which only way seemed to move there men forward against hearts lost two goals at set plays then some players expect other players to dobthe stuff mikey scared stiff to touch the ball that made our right side non affective one player not trying cause that Kilmarnock game thought they could set back then killie score and we go all out and leave no one back yes rugby park is a bouncy castle and ther players won second and third ball weather pitch players attitude perfect storm livingston began to see different attitude maybe maeda instead of lightweight mikey our players were winning second ball bernardo contribution and putting his body to protect the ball our players midfield defenders facing the right way instead of running back to recover lost second ball dine same against Dundee that’s what and must do against those teams they all play the same way sept for last ten minutes by then Celtic should have game sewing up with some concentration must say there is only one club in spl that try to attack celtic that’s how sky pay for live tv maybe points change no points for non scoring draw 1 fir scoring draw three for win would stop this parking the bus ruining our game tickets situation is not good for getting new sponsors in 2/1/2024 St mirren vCeltic on sky st mirren give Celtic a desperately small amount if tickets that’s alright if there stadiums full but you will see plenty empty seats maybe thousand if stmirren season book holders turn up if they don’t prefer to watch TV it’ll look nice hoping there 3,000 fans out shout Celtics couple of hundreds allowed what you think when thousands a seats empty Ross county hearts Kilmarnock all do it after sevco started it but Celtic are still winning ?

IMHO Celtic should refuse to let at least Reo go as he’s been injured and hasn’t played and Daizen has just returned for a wee bit of hunskelping so really needs to be carefully watched over. The Famous Buckie Thistle will provide a challenge so I’d rather have a full squad available. I mean, if it was Sevco New Huns or Linfield or such we could put a lot of the development squad out but not against the Famous Buckie Thisle. 🙂
PS I’ve actually got a Buckie Thistle mug that my brother bought me when he’d been up that way due to their Green and White!

Give Hearts a couple of mil for shankland. Killie a mil for Armstrong

  • Robert McLaughlin says:

Great News for Celtic BR can rest him against Buckie Cup game as Surely We’ll beat them without kyogo. ..Hoping Our Other players come back injury free & in great Confidence for year ahead! ! C’mon the hoops! !

  • Bob (original) says:

Well, after the article about the weak Cantwell…

Kyogo doesn’t come across as the type of player who’d thow a hissy fit

    at this surprising exclusion.

In fact, this might just fire up Kyogo to prove his Japanese doubters

    wrong?

After his superb goal the other day, his confidence will already be up,

    – and a wee bit of anger added to his game might produce plenty more goals?

    🙂

  • the maister says:

    Great news for us!
And don’t even give Hearts the smell of a pound!
Japanese FA doing us a favour here!
Make Kyogo a better, better, player and we’ll reap the reward in the future!
Keep sticking in those goals for Celtic, Kyogo Furuhashi and we’ll win the League – again!
