Liel Abada isn’t about to quit Celtic.

That is the confident prediction of Keith Jackson who has been increasingly close to the movers and shakers at Celtic since he was granted Peter Lawwell’s last newspapers interview as CEO.

Back in June 2020 Lawwell was explaining how he expected to see fans inside Celtic Park for test matches but in that occasion he had to wait more than a year to see supporters back inside the ground.

Abada signed a new long term contract with Celtic at the start of September but since then his situation has been complicated by injury and the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

As a 22-year-old watching that situation unfold from afar he must have felt vulnerable and confused but on December 30 he had football to concentrate on as he came off the bench in the Glasgow Derby then did the same three days later away to St Mirren.

With Nicolas Kuhn looking like becoming Celtic’s first January signing the arrival of another winger has added to speculation about Abada but in the Daily Record Jackson claims:

And fears over Abada’s position have ramped up after the SPFL champions launched a £3m move to sign Rapid Vienna wide man Nicolas Kuhn, with negotiations between the two clubs continuing yesterday. But Record Sport understands, at no point in his discussions with Rodgers, has Abada asked to be sold or even to leave the club on loan until the situation back home has been stabilised.

Having a fully fit, motivated and in form Abada will be a massive boost for Celtic’s hopes of retaining the SPFL title but until February 1 there is bound to be speculation about the future of the Israeli international winger.

Big Inaction Jackson of the daily Record ? Oh I remember him ! Wasn’t he the scribe who told the entire planet that ex the Rangers owner and worldly businessman Craig Whyte was a billionaire with wealth off the radar when in reality the cowboy is a previous bankrupt up to his wishbone in debt ? Ah , the chief sports scoop at the Record , waxing lyrical on behalf of his employers warms you up on a cold January day with his insight and understanding of it all ..doesn’t he ? His fellow minion scoops on the sports desk must be super proud of their leader ? Leading by example in the truest sense ….
