According to the Daily Record Celtic haven’t received any bids for Matt O’Riley.
Tonight Sky Sports News reported interest from Girona in the midfielder who was linked with Inter Milan earlier this month.
O’Riley extended his Celtic contract in September but his form and the level of interest would suggest that it is highly unlikely that he will see out the bulk of that contract which runs until May 2027.
There seems very little sign of serious transfer business being completed this month but it can’t be assumed that no offers will come in for the midfielder in the final fortnight of this transfer window.
Selling O’Riley this month would be a massive risk for Celtic to take on, late on Thursday night in the Daily Record Michael Gannon reports:
Celtic are braced for big money bids for Matt O’Riley after La Liga shock troops Girona placed the Hoops ace at the top of their wish list.
Record Sport understands Parkhead chiefs have not yet received an offer for the 23-year-old – and the club is not looking to cash in on the playmaker in this window. O’Riley has attracted attention from several sides in England, Italy and Spain after a spectacular two years in Glasgow following his £1.5m switch from MK Dons.
The attacking midfielder has been one of the stars of the season and Serie A big guns Inter Milan are among his admirers. But now Girona are poised to enter the race as they look to build on their sensational start to the season in Spain.
Celtic return to action on Sunday when they face Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup, Rodgers is expected to host media conferences on Friday where transfer activity will take priority over Sunday’s match.
Exclusive: La Liga leaders #Girona are strongly interested in signing #Celtic’s Matt O’Riley before the deadline. Another big club in Spain looking too and at least one in the Premier League. Top player. https://t.co/OzHTtF6aQx (w/@AnthonyRJoseph) pic.twitter.com/iASOHyZ21Z

Record Sport Understands…
Record Sport ought to understand that with a daily circulation that’s probably less than the capacity of their beloved Liebrox that I understand they are on death row –
And good riddance to them !
Celtic have quality and quality will always be in demand.
Girona would not have £30m to invest on O’Riley. They may be doing a rangers and trying to associate with up and coming talent to stay relevant to the big teams in their league who could afford him. Appease their fans or just the red tops filling column space anti-Celtic cos there is nothing positive to write for their main paying demographic.
Alternatively City Group flexing their muscles. If he goes to Girona I will eat my Celtic bunnet. Maybe he craves to play in front of their 15k capacity fans.
I understand its gonna be windy and some rain later today.
Same relevance and about as much use.
