‘They are always moaning’ Brendan Rodgers enters dangerous waters with Celtic fan criticism

In not so many words Brendan Rodgers has suggested that Celtic fans always find something to moan about.

When close to 50,000 turn up in January to watch a dull, laboured 90 plus minutes they are more than entitled to moan, grumble and those that stayed to the final whistle are well within their rights to boo at the final whistle.

Yesterday’s 1-0 win over Ross County followed a pattern. Apart from the Glasgow Derby, which looks like the only fixture that motivates the Celtic manager the fans have been served up, at best, bang average home performances having shelled out £600 or more for 19 SPFL matches.

A 1-1 draw with Motherwell, defeat from Hearts and a laboured 2-0 win at home to Livingston with both goals coming in a six minute spell isn’t what fans expected when they pledged another season of support with Ange Postecoglou in the managers chair.

Any sort of win might be good enough at Leicester City but toiling at home to a club that lost 3-0 at home to Partick Thistle and gave SPFL debuts to six players yesterday isn’t what Celtic fans expect. If that makes them entitled so be it, the memories of season 20/21 are still very fresh and raw, with they key backroom figures still in place.

I have had that [negative fan reaction] since I have been here. If it’s not the result, it’s me. If it’s not me, it’s the board.

All we can do as a team is win games and try to improve and develop which is what the team has done.

The team and staff work hard everyday so we are very much together and that is how we will continue to be. If it fall below the expectation then we will do everything we can to be better.

That was an unusual reaction from Rodgers, normally he can find a diplomatic, middle of the road reply but that question seemed to get under his skin.

The main criticism from supporters is at the Celtic boardroom but since they only show face once a year at the AGM they will be out of sight until November.

Rodgers ought to know better than anyone the low level ambitions of the Celtic board, with two Lawwell’s rather than one in senior positions this time around the warning signs were there when he took the phone calls from Dermot Desmond last summer.

While Celtic’s biggest shareholder concerns himself with the greens and fairways of his favourite Caribbean golf courses Rodgers is looking increasingly sensitive trying to shield himself from the serial failings of Celtic, highlighted by the shambles of a summer transfer window which is being played out again this month.

A club with little ambition but to grow the bank balance

That answer shows nothing but utter contempt for the fans. I believe he crossed the line with that. He feels the same as the board towards us. We should pay our money and shut the fuck up.

I was doubtful when he came back but thought he would be on our side ( because the board have proven time and again they aren’t) otherwise why would he bother.

His attitude now shows he’s just there for the money and to be the boards lacky. Bank balance is king, the fans mean fuck all..

Lol Brendan is in with the bricks now sorry pricks that should on the board.
Sunbed Sam is every bit a CHISLER and fits right in there with the board.
Remember sunbed Sam is every bit as greedy for money just the board, the less spent on players all the more to divided between the board and the manager.
For F**K sake Celtic fans wake up and smell the coffee your all being SHAFTED on from a great height.

And we have the cheek to laugh at sevco for being thick and dafties, our fans are worse and even more gullible.

Get used to the shite you watched yesterday and the shite sunbed Sam spoke about after the game because the board and the manager have jackshit left to offer.

What does bang average actually mean, is it better or worse than ordinary average? serious question.

  • Bob (original) says:

The failed summer transfer window was on the boy Lawwell:

a failed January transfer window would be on Rodgers.

  • Owen Mullions says:

The sooner Rodgers leaves the better as far as I’m concerned. He should never have been trusted again after the last time.
