Time warp Keevins is caught short again

While he listens carefully to the Austrian expert that trashed Nicolas Kuhn on Radio Clyde it seems like Hugh Keevins wasn’t paying attention to the media conference from Brendan Rodgers on Friday.

Speaking to the media for the first time in a fortnight you’d expect the veteran reporter to be watching and listening closely for negative content to spice up his dated column in Sunday’s Daily Record.

A character assassination was broadcast live on air by Radio Clyde even before Kunh had signed for Celtic, coming early in the week it gave Keevins something to feast on nice and early before he sent his copy off to the Record.

Included in the criticism was Celtic using new bhoy Kuhn to sell tickets for the match against Buckie which offered the German winger to pick up Brownie points against part-time opponents from the Highland League.

There is one problem with that viewpoint, Kuhn won’t be playing today as Brendan Rodgers revealed at Friday’s media conference.

Regardless, Keevins charged in with his trademark contempt for all things Celtic, telling Record readers:

Kuhn must assert himself in a way that does not characterise him in that fashion and, at the same time, shines a more favourable light on how transfer business is being conducted by his employers.

You might be forgiven for thinking the player will never have a better chance of accumulating brownie points as quickly as he will be able to do against Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup this afternoon.

A part-time team from the Highland League cast, justifiably, in the role of lambs to the slaughter against the current holders of the trophy. It is, or should be, a win-win situation for Celtic. Kuhn gets the chance to disprove the theory about his questionable finishing as Celtic put him forward as an incentive to buy a ticket for the match.

A selling point that’s handy on a day when the cup tie is live on television, the country has been in the grip of sub-zero temperatures and the kids have school in the morning. Always a consideration when the game has a 4pm kick-off.

A competent sub-editor at the Record would have realised that Kuhn won’t be playing today and deleted that section of the column, with cuts biting deep any decent sub-editors are likely to have been made redundant as the Record streamlines its operations.

I don’t understand the old fools issue, wouldn’t it be better to get a decent crowd in as Buckie get half the gate? Which will set them up nice for a couple of seasons.

Confirmation from the ‘grandfather’ of the SMSM sports coverage:

if you want “football NEWS” don’t go to the SMSM!

Embarrassing that the article wasn’t updated. They just don’t care.

And possibly even more embarrassing for Keevins:

he’s paid to produce an opinion piece, drawing on his 40-odd years

knowledge and experience of the Scottish game,

    and yet,

this latest article is based on the verbal opinions given by a foreign journalist!

Hope Keevins is still there to close The DR’s doors pemanently himself,

    later this year…?

Funnily enough, I don’t recall this prick being quite so vocal about the warnings about how dire Lammers and Dessers were back in the summer. Some of which actually came from within the Sevco fanbase and all of which proved correct. Also, not only did BR state that Kühn wouldn’t be playing a few days before the game (and in plenty of time for his inane drivel to be edited accordingly) but, as far as I am aware, the game is only being shown live on Viaplay. Which about three people subscribe to. Which sort of torpedoes his pish about the game being shown live on TV being a factor in whatever point it is the deranged old fuckwit is actually trying to make here.

Keevins must be sick to the core, that no matter how often he predicts it; that Celtic keep on winning and sevco keep on going through new managers.
Some things just do not change!
