After celebrating the elevation of James Tavernier into their Hall of Fame it is fair to say that Ibrox fans know a thing or two about penalties.
In the early days of the Philippe Clement reign John Beaton (twice) and Nick Walsh delivered vital penalties after the 85th minute to cushion the Belgian’s arrival in Scottish football.
When Willie Collum failed to follow instructions he was subjected to three different statements issued to preferred media messengers.
There was nothing contrived about either of Celtic’s penalties last night, perhaps the timings might have been painful for the watching bears but with Nick Walsh from Boclair Academy and Andrew Dallas on VAR there was no chance of any borderline calls going Celtic’s way.
How are people (mostly bears) even arguing about the award of this. Nick Walsh was correct on both penalties tonight…?? https://t.co/wegwJQPmha

Sutton gets the paranoia of bears at every turn, his profile riles them with the respect, reach and influence he has, way beyond the parochial Scottish media scene.
Last night Sutton was relieved from sharing a studio with wacky Kris Boyd, he watched from the commentary box with Neil Lennon and James McFadden having to put up with the man child from Tarbolton.
In last 3 games, we have scored 4 goals. 2 deflected goals and 2 penalties, I am worried. Rodgers needs to change his ineffective tactics and lawwell needs to get to f@#£
Couldn’t agree more, John.
We are scraping wins at the moment and there have been some unlikely hero’s recently.
BTW,what has happened to Abada ??
Looks like he’s got Gaza on his mind every time the ball comes to him.
A shadow of his former self last night.
Is this what it has come to paying good money to watch this dross 90 minutes of pure crap if these tactics are all Rodgers can come up with then it’s time for him to go before we get a good hiding from someone Joe Hart must be the only goalkeeper in Britain who’s scared to catch a ball from a cross
A lot of justified criticism of the board but BR has got off too lightly. He is killing us with his drab brand of ‘tactics’ which opposition managers have long since sussed out. Indeed, they had it sussed last time which is one of the reasons he got out of Dodge. Tbh, I wouldn’t trust him with another transfer window anyway – everything he touches dies of boredom.
Not just him either mate. Kyogo is well off the levels he was playing at, O’Riley hasn’t been able to influence games as much since New Year and Johnstone has blown hot and cold. CalMac has looked isolated in an ineffective midfield and CCV and Hatate have gone from ever-present to ever-injured. Hart made some great saves vs the sheep, but then let that one in last night!!??
None of the new guys look like they are capable of filling in and plugging those gaps either. BR is right with his comment about the “different level of player” he’s having to work with (although his slow, passive tactics certainly don’t help).
Ross Barkley was available on a free in the summer and is doing well at Luton. We actually looked at him, by all accounts and probably could have got him in. I mean, surely we have more pulling power than them, even if they are in the EPL this season? Ideal Mooy replacement – probably even an upgrade on current form (no offence to Mooy, who served us well). There were others too, if we’d stuck to targeting a smaller number of quality, oven-ready players, rather than the scattergun, hit and hope, project signing strategy we went with.
Same this window. Miovski was probably affordable/obtainable and decent value at even £5-6m in January, but will go south now in the summer, possibly for that sum – or possibly more. Idah did well with the pens last night, but I’m yet to be convinced by him or Kühn. Again, no offence to either of them, but both OK as back up or in cup games against minnows, but risky for key games (I will be happy to be wrong on that judgement though). And don’t get me started on how we’re crying out for at least one new keeper (probably need more than that if Hart goes, as Bain is not good enough and Siegrist has gone full Bermuda Triangle).
Didn’t want to criticise Abada in case I am accused of something, the guy is as useful as a chocolate fireguard now. Stop playing him and get rid.
We won’t get rid of lawwell as he is an arrogant bar steward , rogers won’t change his playing style because he can’t! So this season won’t end well, as to beat the newco 4 times in the league is a tall order. All three would be brilliant go prove me wrong. HH
Sutton on the button – But What The Fcuk is Boyd doing at Celtic games not involving Sevco !
