There was no doubting the relief among the Celtic players and fans as they celebrated last night’s 2-1 win away to Hibs.

Once the home side had equalised in the 60th minute Hibs looked the more likely winners, Joe Hart had to be at his sharpest as he held the homeside at bay behind an evolving Celtic defence that lost Alistair Johnston and Stephen Welsh during the course of the match.

After the final whistle the the normally detached Brendan Rodgers couldn’t hold back in his celebrations, looking more like Ronny Deila or Ange Postecoglou as he enjoyed the acclaim of the away fans packed in behind the goal where Adam Idah slotted home the winning goal.

After drawing at Aberdeen on Saturday any further dropped points would have been disastrous for Celtic’s title hopes.

Had they drawn at Easter Road the hoops could have kicked off their next SPFL match, at home to Kilmarnock on February 17 trailing by five points with Philippe Clement’s side facing Ross County and St Johnstone before Celtic return to SPFL business.

BR has to do much better with his team.

That felt like a re-run of the Ross County game:

early goal, we get all excited…and then nothing. 🙁

What gets me swearing at the laptop is BR’s continued reluctance to

make changes at half-time – when it looks obvious that change is needed.

[Injury to Johnston aside], BR made his first substitution on the 65th minute.

What was he expecting to change / improve from 45 to 65 minutes?

The longer the game went on, Hibs looked more likely to score a second goal.

Yes, the players on the bench might not be the best either,

but BR could be adapting his tactics / team and formation quicker?

I think Brendan has to change his tactics,as well as being abysmal to watch this turgid side to side slow passing game is going to cost us points and invariably the league.with the players we’ve got we should be beating the rest of the SPFL teams apart from sevco ,which funnily enough we are beating but losing elsewhere will cost us.in Europe we always point to the financial gap between us and European clubs is the financial gap between us and the rest of spfl sides not the same ie we should be better than them with the money we’ve got ,mind you we don’t spend it ,thanks to biscuit tin board.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Sevco getting on before Celtic again then…

They’ll be plenty of that till they have to play after us due to Europe !
