Graham Spiers has backed down from his outrage at the horrific, toe curling reaction to Brendan Rodgers concluding an interview with the phrase Good Girl.
The veteran journalist rushed out a podcast to share his horror at the use of those words then jumped on board the Offended Bus with Kaye Adams on Radio Scotland for an hour of tut-tutting and group counselling.
It was a ridiculous over-reaction which said more about the wet wipes and snowflakes than it did about the Celtic manager.
Faced with a reporter dejected by Celtic’s late victory Rodgers was diplomatic in providing answers covering the match until Lewis tried to play dumb over the media narrative over Celtic’s collapse and the SPFL trophy being wrapped in red, white and blue ribbons.
Rather than spell out the bleeding obvious Rodgers politely concluded the interview with the phrase Good Girl which Lewis repeated. The interview went out live on Radio Scotland with an edited version appearing online then on Sportscene.
Tuesday’s Radio Scotland phone in hosted by Adams was swamped by do-gooders lining up to be offended, the sort of content that has folk reaching out to find out how to cancel their TV licence fee.
One thing has become very striking about this #BrendanRodgers fuss – and I hold my hands up – which is that while the media have been quite excited about it, the wider public appear to have found it pretty dull and uninteresting. https://t.co/7zbshe81wT

After the earnest horror of the Guardian’s golf guy who has apparently spent loads of time in the company of Rodgers it was the turn of Andrew Smith of the Scotsman to share the grief he as been living through since Sunday afternoon.
It was absolutely toe curling, utterly toe curling when I heard it. I was like ‘OH MY GOD’ I can’t believe that in this day and age that someone would say that because it has got such impact, good girl, oooooooooooooooooooooowah.
It it, it has been described as casual sexism and it is casual sexism, there is no way of dressing it up as anything other than that.
Rodgers let his contempt for media types come to the surface, nothing more. It wasn’t any other trendy ism, contempt for those in legacy media with circulations and audience figures falling off a cliff now that there are alternatives.Â
The Celtic boss knows the bitching and two faced nature of their job, what those involved are saying and thinking off air, when they aren’t on duty. He is obliged to speak to them but has no warmth, respect or rapport for any of them.
Rodgers is expected to give pre and post match interviews to BBC Scotland tonight as Celtic take on Dundee, Lewis is likely to be with the top team of Kenny Macintyre, Kenny Miller, Neil McCann, Alisdair Lamont and Steven Thompson on duty at Rugby Park.
Theres always a tweet with these clowns,Sue Perb!!

Cancel Spiers! This idiot claims to be well-educated with his little privilidged schoolboy photo on his blog which he only recently changed but believes Sevco are Rangers and that a club can come back from liquidation.
For once,
Spiers is actually brutally direct and honest in his reporting,
…about his own output.
In his own words:
“…the wider public appear to have found it pretty dull and uninteresting.”
To be fair, you could apply that admission to most / all of the SMSM output?
🙂
Of interest only to the chattering classes, the professionally offended and people so idiotic they would choose a teacake over a caramel wafer….
No Mr Spiers. The wider public has found you and that chanty wrassler Que? Adams dull and uninteresting.
Sir, as a “chanty wrassler” myself, I take great offence at being compared to Miss Adams
Did Ms Adam’s not do a talk on banning catholic schools last year.?
Tony B – brilliant use of a phrase that my old man, now sadly passed on, used often in the past to describe certain characters that he disapproved of.
Joe, what about a Videocelts campaign to get chanty wrassler more commonly used in everyday conversation – in true internet bampottery fashion.
