Three days after Japan were knocked out of the Asian Cup Daizen Maeda was back training at Lennoxtown today.

The winger could have taken some time out to get over Saturday’s defeat from Iran but seems to have got on a quick flight from Qatar to London and on to Glasgow.

After Saturday’s dropped points away to Aberdeen Brendan Rodgers will be pleased to have gained a new attacking option with Maeda in contention to start against Hibs on Wednesday night.

Maeda does have history for making rapid returns, two years ago he played for Japan against South Korea on February 1 then returned in time to come off the bench the next day as Celtic won 3-0 in the Glasgow Derby.

Rodgers will hold a media conference at lunchtime today to preview tomorrow’s match with injuries a key issue.

Cameron Carter-Vickers, Greg Taylor and Reo Hatate- three regulars last season- will miss out with Rodgers looking for his win at Easter Road for the first time as Celtic boss.
