Celtic have opened talks about extending the contract of Daniel Kelly.

The teenager made his SPFL debut in midweek, replacing Callum McGregor at the break then taking less than 20 minutes to find the net with a composed shot into the postage stamp corner.

Kelly has just 10 months left to run on his contract, worryingly he is able to sign a pre-season contract in July with clubs in England and Germany reported to be interested.

Wednesday’s performance against Dundee puts the player in the driving seat when it comes to negotiations which will now take on a sense of urgency.

The Daily Mail reports:

CELTIC are pushing to tie down teenage midweek goalscorer Daniel Kelly on a new contract.

The 18-year-old midfielder marked a dream Premiership debut against Dundee with a stunning first senior goal in a thumping 7-1 win for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Out of contract at the end of 2024, Kelly is now attracting strong interest from Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig as well as clubs in England.

Celtic have now made contact with the Scottish youngster’s representatives to schedule discussions on a new deal before he becomes free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club this summer.

Kelly has been on the bench since the end of the winter break, even with Odin Thiago Holm back to fitness he has retained his place.

With Reo Hatate injured and David Turnbull sold to Cardiff in January the competition for midfield places has quickly thinned out.

As a Celtic fan Kelly’s contract demands shouldn’t be excessive but his agent will know what is available elsewhere and be expecting the going rate for the 18-year-old midfielder.

It’d be great to have one of our own signed up, for all sorts of reasons.

A great result from that shithole in Govan today, including yet another Tavpen but that result only counts if we take 3 points from that shithole in Edinburgh tomorrow.

I’m guessing the fat slug will resume his self-appointed Director of Football role which he’s occupied for donkey’s years (apart from a short hiatus) and cost us too many millions to speak of. The essence of his (lack of) character is displayed by throwing his own son under a bus to protect himself. Absolute piecea shit. And, his son may get into the Guinness Book of Records as the only known product of two ‘cunts’.

Believe Kelly is looked upon as the Turnbull replacement imo?
Thinking that the structure of the squad still has to involve the 8 homegrown rule within the 25 required?
So therefore if we are looking at 2 players in each position in a 433 then the squad building is well underway, if not completed by any means yet?
Still think that the 3 extra players within the squad will be with Kelly, lawal and either vata or Mikey Johnston in mind for next season imo?
Would keep the balance correct within the squad, where we were totally overloaded with wide players this season, and in turn reduced the amount of options available to ourselves with the injuries, such as they were?
I have been very critical upon Rodgers and his decision making so far this season, but will give him credit in trying to address the problems that the 8 homegrown rule does bring to ourselves?
Ange certainly wasn’t interested in addressing it whatsoever, but totally welcome Kelly been in the plans of Rodgers by the looks of things?
So hopefully it can be resolved as another potential player on our hands, who could well do very well for our club imo?

Auld pishy on Superscoreboard today was absolutely gutted about the sevco defeat as was the rest of the fanny’s on that station.
You would think the broadcasting was coming from a funeral parlour that atmosphere from the studio was that bad.
The excuses being slabbered out of auld pishies mouth was a delight to here the pain when he was talking was such a joy to listen to all that was missing was a violin.
But he still managed a negative out of the defeat sevco suffered, apparently the pressure is all on Celtic, someone Nedd to tell that auld fart it’s time retired.

The village idiot was supposedly reporting on an EPL game this afternoon in the Sky studios but it seems nobody told the BIGOTED village idiot that,as he screamed like a banshee when sevco got the penalty and scored it,how the fuck the rest of pundits put up with that fud I do not know.

He thinks the pundits in the studio are laughing at what he is saying thinking he is being controversional but he is that THICK he can’t see it ,but they are actually laughing at him.
