After making seven appearances for the Ibrox Tribute Act it looks like the season is over for Oscar Cortes.

The winger, signed on loan from Lens in January to the usual fanfare picked up what appeared to be a hamstring injury during the second half of the midweek win over Kilmarnock.

Cortes was ruled out of today’s match at home to Motherwell but speaking to club TV pre-match Philippe Clement had bad news for the bears.

Football Scotland reports the Ibrox boss saying:

In one way not good that Oscar has a serious injury, so he will be out for a longer time. It’s a really strange one with the action that he did to have a severe injury like that.

We need to look at that in the next couple of days what to do with it, operation or not.

Also to be in contact with Lens because we are not only deciding about that of course. That’s a blow for him, the team, for all of us because he was doing really well.

By the sound of that Cortes will be returning to Lens before any decision is taken on undergoing surgery.

With nine SPFL matches left to play it looks odds against the Colombian winger playing again this season.

Clement also has Danilo and Abdalah Sima out with long term injuries, Todd Cantwell is expected to be back later this month after suffering a hamstring strain.
