After a week of Brendan Rodgers highlighting inconsistencies the SFA continued with business as usual at Easter Road last night.

If Yang Hyun-jun raises his foot in a stationary position and is confronted by a charge from Alex Cochrane then the VAR will draw it to the attention of the match referee who will then red card the offender.

Various pundits trotted out the claim that it was the correct decision, the letter of the law and other excuses.

Yesterday at Easter Road Steven McLean and Steven Kirkland on VAR took a very different view- the exact opposite.

Eight minutes into the match Mohamed Diomande panicked with Hibs in possession, as Will Fish moved his head towards the ball the on loan Ibrox midfielder raised his foot head high to challenge for the ball.

Play on, not a free kick, yellow or red card.

McLean hadn’t forgotten the Laws of the Game, with Hibs gaining the ascendancy midway through the second half as they chased an equaliser he showed red cards to Jordan Obita and Nathan Monah-Welsh.

Yesterday’s performance puts McLean into pole position for the April 7 Glasgow Derby at Ibrox however he won’t be anywhere near the European Championships this summer with UEFA set to again ignore SFA officials despite the lobbying of Hugh Dallas.
