Herald reporter pushes for Hibs to face Twitter charge

The Glasgow Times are reporting that Hibs could be charged by the SFA over a tweet sent from Ibrox yesterday.

After 20 minutes David Dickinson and Andrew Dallas came up with a penalty decision for the sort of routine contact that is seen in every match at every level whenever the ball is crossed into the goalmouth.

While Goldson’s Law is applied religiously to create runs of 64 and 75 SPFL matches without conceding a penalty at the other end of the park a penalty can be conjured up out of next to nothing.

Wise cracking Michael Nicholson got the gags rolling at the Celtic AGM without any punishment, yesterday Hibs came up with the perfectly innocent tweet that prompted Matthew Lindsay of the Herald/Glasgow Times into action.

Glasgow Times reports:

It was a cheeky dig which suggested it was only a matter of time before the home team were awarded a penalty – however it could land the capital outfit in hot water with Scottish football’s governing body.

The SFA rule book clearly stipulates that clubs cannot include any criticism of match officials which indicates bias or incompetence on the part of a match official in their social media output.

Rule 29.1 states: “A club or recognised football body which publishes, distributes, issues, sells or authorises a third party to publish, distribute, issue or sell a match programme or any other publication or audio/visual material, including but not limited to the internet, social networking or micro-blogging sites, shall be held responsible for all matters contained therein.”

There are of course no SFA rules preventing clubs from using their media messengers to request that certain referees aren’t allowed to be involved in their SPFL matches.

Willie Collum has been overlooked for the last 12 rounds of SPFL fixtures involving Philippe Clement’s side, David Dickinson has refereed three since the winter break.

Keep the pressure up, Joe. Every club suffers, while one club benefits.

  • Stephen says:

This will all come to a head some day, what kind of financial state Celtic will be in by then God only knows.
Interesting to see how our officials react today, I fear the worst.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Yep Stephen – Robertson is the most lenient of the lot so it’s a free hit for any Sevco sympathisers in The Livingston team to maim and injure at will and keep key players outta The Glasgow Derby (note that Sevco also get an extra day’s rest to recover)…

And while Robertson is probably the slowest to produce a red card – The one on VAR is worth a watching for certain…

And there is an impending Glasgow Derby coming up next –

So then – What the fuck can possibly go wrong then !!!

  • Bob (original) says:

Now, if Hibs Twitter had stated something like:

“Penalty to Rangers. And it’s a mystery why our world class, match officials

have not been invited to the Euros this summer? Scandalous!”

Then no punishment could be forthcoming,

as ‘critical’ comments are the only comments disallowed:

    Rule 29.2 adds:

“A club shall ensure that any such publications or audio/visual material does not contain any criticism of any match official calculated to indicate bias or incompetence on the part of such match official or to impinge upon his character.”

So, after another well dodgy, sevco win, an opposition manager could say something like:

“VAR and the match officials were on another level today, and immensely competent.

Where would Scottish football be without them?”

and not expect any SFA sanctions…? 🙂

  • The Joker says:

That rule they mention in this article applies to every team in Scotland apart from Sevco, who can say whatever they like about the game and the officials without punishment.

Meanwhile our own club sit back and get a right good SCUDDING from the SFA shit scared to call them out for blatant CHEATING.

Fake news stories last week going in tooled up with the best of lawyers to challenge the CHEATS at Hunden only to take a powder at the last minute giving they git a result as its only a one game ban, they should have come out of that meeting with no ban at all.

As for the game yesterday what a surprise a penalty to sevco,I’m just surprised it took them 20 minutes.

The league has gone for this season but it will be interesting to see what mugs are desperate to part with season book money for the season,Hell slap it into them.
