John Beaton had to admit defeat to Celtic today but the Bellshill based official managed to exert his influence on the match.
In Matchday 34 of the SPFL Beaton was in charge of Celtic for the sixth time this season, both of the matches that he has been put in charge of this month have involved Brendan Rodgers’ side.
At Ibrox Celtic apparently kicked their opponents off the park with a foul count of 23-10, in terms of cards Celtic had four yellows awarded against them with none for the home side.

It wasn’t quite as obvious today but it seems clear that in the second last month of the season opponents can commit any sort of fouls on Celtic players without fear of punishment, either from a foul or card.
During the first half Reo Hatate constantly had players climbing all over him, rather than fall to the ground as others would do the Celtic midfielder battled to retain possession and create an opening.
As well all know football is a game of small margins, an additional free kick or yellow card could decide the title race. With Crawford Allan demob happy it would be a surprise if Beaton doesn’t referee another Celtic match with a VAR appointment looking a certainty.
