The Daily Record are reporting that Ipswich Town are close to signing John Lundstram as a free agent.

Back in the Championship this season and in the thick of the battle for two promotion places Kieran McKenna’s side are playing outstanding football in the 46 match slog that is the English second tier.

It is hard to imagine a style of football less suited to Lundstram but the Daily Record is always towards the front with deluded Ibrox transfer tales.

There has been virtually nothing in the way of new contract offers being made to half a dozen first team stars at Ibrox including Lundstram, Ryan Jack, Kemar Roofe and Borna Barisic.

After three years of mediocrity it seems that the Scary Scouser will take his talent elsewhere next season with the Record reporting:

Ipswich Town are ‘set’ to sign John Lundstram this summer, according to reports in Turkey,

The Rangers midfielder is out of contract in the summer and while talks with the Ibrox club have been ongoing over a new contract, no agreement has been reached and as things stand, the Scouser will leave on a free at the end of the season.

He had been heavily linked with a move to Trabzonspor, but the Turkish club have reportedly stalled on their offer, with reports there suggesting that Lundstram was seeking a salary of €2million to play in the Super Lig next term.

Now Gunebakis claim that the Tractor Boys are leading the race to land Lundstram and are set to get their man. The Portman Road outfit are locked in a battle for the Championship title with Leicester City and Leeds. Led by former Manchester united coach Kieran McKenna, Town are currently top of the table, although just two points separate the top two and the Foxes have a game in hand on both of their title rivals.

In his three seasons at Ibrox Lundstram has played under four different permanent managers.

Arriving as a free agent after Sheffield United were relegated from the EPL the 30-year-old is believed to be one of the highest paid players in Scotland.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

So very apt – An agricultural thug going to Tractor Boys…

But then it’s from The Record so likely to be lies !

I’m keeping my rejoinder firmly in the Farming vernacular
It was a load of Horse manure and/ or Bullshit.

  • Dando says:

£2m per annum to play in Turkey?

Ah so the denials of him being on £40k a week at the tribute act are false…..

No doubt the daylate record forgot the obligatory £1m fee the best team in Europe will receive when he leaves, as with all Sevco’s loan/free agents (;-0)
