The big Dens Park postponement question that no one dares to ask

On March 17 the match between Dundee and Philippe Clement’s side was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Postponements at this stage of the season are a particular problem, this weekend April 13/14 is the end of the traditional season with the Premiership split in two for the five remaining rounds of fixtures.

With an international break coming up the first viable date for the rescheduled match was Wednesday April 3, should there be a continuing problem with the pitch the SPFL had April 10 as a back up to ensure that all 33 rounds of fixtures were completed on time.

For reasons that were never given but which many fans predicted the SPFL decided to overlook April 3 and puts their eggs in the April 10 basket, yesterday they paid the price.

Every cynic in the world knows that the SPFL, led by Neil Doncaster getting paid £400,000 a year with a 24 month notice period on his contact with 14 years of secrets, opted to give Clement’s side a full week of preparations before facing Celtic on April 7. It was a calculated risk, high risk. Costly.

On Tuesday Clement started bleating about the timing of the fixture, even before it was postponed for a second time there were voices wanting the match relocated away from Dens Park.

For their own reasons the SPFL ignored playing the match on April 3 and now have to deal with the fall out.

Dundee are one point above Hibs and three ahead of Motherwell who play each other on Saturday while Dundee go to Aberdeen.

A win for Tony Docherty’s side at Pittodrie guarantees them a top six place but if they draw and Hibs win or lose and Motherwell win then the Dens Park side will drop out of the top six knowing that they need to take something from the re-arranged match on April 17 with angry Clement and his squad.

Well picked up Joe and good points made. Someone once said that a good lawyer doesn’t ask a question which he doesn’t already know the answer. I suspect this falls into this category.

They wanted to play Celtic while coming off a long break because there was a small area of Dens not suitable, so play is first as they don’t think they’ll need as much to beat Dundee. This will all be parked and all we’ll hear from hear on in is how to punish Dundee.

All we can do is to play out games and get the wins ‘ points on the board. Get the popcorn in and watch them sort out their shite.

    HAIL HAIL
    KEEP THE FAITH??

Lol the vessel part in Al of this is that sevco released that statement last night about the game being off and calling out Dundee for BREAKING SPFL RULES,you could not make that statement up but hey sevco did.

Of all the clubs to put it out there that Dundee have broken the SPFL rules on numerous occasions without punishment but sevco now want them to pay the penalty no pun intended there.

At the end of the day the tickly handshake brigades at Hunden tried to their fellow brothers at Ibrox a favour by leaving outthe 3rd April date to give the sevco klub more time to prepare for the game against us and it has now backfired.

  • The Joker says:

There will be punishment heading Dundee’s way as sevco have spoken and they will be listened to Collum is proof of that.

Don’t be surprised to see Dundee get hit with a fine in the coming days, with Hunden been told when the game is played for Dundee players to be sent off sharpish with a couple of penalties to sevco in the first half just to put the game out of reach for Dundee with 3 points secure to sevco with injuries to the new klub from ibrox.

If that lot were on their way to Dundee when the game was called off the could just keep going to Dublin.

Aye and they’d wanna call at Hamilton and ‘make love’ to His Holiness The Pope on the way as well Frankie…

  • John Copeland says:

All the authorities had to do was ask Inaction Jackson of the daily Record if the game would go ahead yesterday? The scoop soothsayer relayed the result to us even when there had been no game played ,so a piffling thing like pre warning us the game would be cancelled ,would and should have been a doddle for “Scotland’s Most Influncial Columnist ” with his supernatural powers ? That’s self titled of course !
