Soon after deluded Phil had told the media how pleased he was with his side’s display against Dundee Dujon Sterling let the cat out of the bag by admitting that the team had been sh** in their last three matches.

Clement had dropped the S-bomb into his pre-match media conference with the former ‘Chelsea star’ picking up on that as he discussed his team-mates recent performances.

A Lap of Honour accompanied by outlandish claims followed the 3-3 draw at home to Celtic which masked a largely dire performance rescued by erratic refereeing from John Beaton.

After taking the People to the brink of trashing George Square with their celebrations Clement is close to feeling the anger of broken dreams while trying to get a tune out of serial losers.

Captain James Tavernier has had far more managers at Ibrox than winners medals with other members of the leadership core such as Connor Goldson and John Lundstram the main targets for angry bears.

Soon after his manager had applied top spin to the draw with Dundee Sterling was more up front and honest, telling the Daily Record:

We owe ourselves a performance as well because we have been s*** the past three games.

I think we need to reset and do it for the fans as well because they have come home and away, backing us, singing for 90 minutes/95 minutes/100 minutes and we owe it to them.

Obviously, I understand why the fans are angry after the game but hopefully they can still back us for the rest of the game and still push us on.

Obviously the past two weeks have been disappointing results and I know they have seen it before over the past years. Hopefully we can change that but we will see.

Sterling has become something of a superstar in Clement’s squad with influential bears like Jonny McFarlane and Derek Clark feeling that he is the best option to play left-back, central midfield and right wing following his Bosman arrival in the summer.

Discussing Micky Beale’s influence on his decision to move to Ibrox, in July the Daily Record reported Sterling saying:

It’s a really big opportunity for me and I’m just grateful the gaffer has the trust in me to be able to do that as well. He played a major role in me coming here. I’ve known him for more than a decade. He was the main factor plus he came in with the interest early. A lot of clubs did but he actually came all the way down south to see me and speak to me

What he presented to me, what he wanted me to achieve and what he wanted to achieve were all in line for my next building block. It just made sense. Already on the pitch you can see his tactical brain is genius. I ain’t got nothing else, he’s just a genius. He goes into so much detail.

After the draw at Dundee Clement highlight the fact that winning their next five matches could clinch the title, in their last five matches Sterling’s team-mates have won five points.

Sterling is unlikely to be put up for media duties again this season.
