Celtic have announced the departure of Scott Bain.
The third choice goalkeeper was signed on loan from Dundee in January 2018 following an injury to Craig Gordon with a permanent move confirmed in the summer.
Since the arrival of Joe Hart in August 2021 his appearances have been very limited, last summer following Hart’s retirement Celtic signed Kasper Schmeichel and Vil Sinisalo.
Bain was believed to be under contract until until next summer but just before noon today Celtic announced:
Celtic can confirm that goalkeeper Scott Bain has left the club after over seven years as a Celt.
During that time, the 33-year-old has won seven league titles, four League Cups and three Scottish Cups.
Scott initially joined Celtic on loan from Dundee in January 2018, and made his debut in a Glasgow derby at Ibrox in March when Odsonne Edouard’s late goal gave a 10-man Celtic team a momentous 3-2 victory, on a day when the Hoops keeper played a vital part in the win.
At the end of that season, he made the move a permanent one and he has made a total of 78 appearances for the club, while he also gained three international caps for Scotland.
Celtic are expected to sign Ross Doohan from Aberdeen as their third choice keeper, the 27-year-old will tick a box for UEFA in terms of being club and association trained although playing time is unlikely.
Greg Taylor is the only first team player out of contract but so far there has been no word on his future, Crystal Palace have announced the departure of Jeff Schluup meaning that the defender is now a free agent.

Guy got shafted…imo…Wish him all the best.
All the best Scott.
