Ally McCoist is devastated by a £24m blow to the Ibrox finances.
It isn’t a backdated bill for his gardening leave but the lost fee from selling Youssef Chermiti to Galatasaray!
Apparently after scoring in eight matches last season the former Everton reserve has doubled in value.
That was the feel good story being put out by the Rangers Review before the match against Hibs.
Little did they realise that the ‘star striker’ was about to suffer an injury likely to bring his season to a halt.
Not only has the uncapped Portuguese striker been lost to injury but a record transfer fee has been lost.
McCoist was spilling out his grief on TalkSPORT with the Daily Record happy to pick up and share:
Youssef Chermiti’s injury is a disaster. An absolute disaster. I think the rumours were that they’d been offered £23-24m for him.
I don’t even want to talk about it, and it just dismays me. It’s a massive blow for the boy, and I’m gutted for him, of course.
But in terms of the club itself, there’s no other word for it than a disaster. That’s all you can say.
There was no £23-24m offer from Galatasaray for Chermiti.
FANTASY FOOTBALL FEES FOR MCCOIST
That story is as realistic as Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen starting the bidding for Manny Fernandez at £30m.
Or Spanish, Italian and English clubs weighing up £25m bids for Nico Raskin.
Or the whopper about Italian clubs chasing Connor Barron after two goal-less seasons at Ibrox.
Almost no-one is interested in players that finish third in the SPFL Premiership. Or in 32nd place in the Europa League.
There hard luck stories will crank up in the remains 11 days of the transfer window.
Endorsed by McCoist as he sheds crocodile tears from afar.
A year ago Russell Martin won two Champions League qualifiers to reach the Play Off stage.
Defeat to Club Brugge came with a £4m compensation payment from UEFA and a Europa League place.
On Thursday Derek McInnes takes a 1-0 lead to Jablonec trying to hold on to a place in the UEFA Conference League.
Failure to progress would result in a drop in around £15m in UEFA income for the season.
Unlike the Chermiti fee that loss would be real money.

Surely it was 57mill for the uncapped Portuguese Superstar…using the sevco calculations, of course!
Ally the hedge clipper knows best…he’s soooo loyal..!!
All it was just a little game of transfer bingo leading to a few false calls.
But there is still time for a few more false calls in the coming days.
It wash worshe than a dishashter, it wash a catashtrophe!
