Ibrox fans are slowly beginning to realise the reality of their celebrated ‘takeover’.
Thy were promised an infusion of funds, a transfer splurge bank-rolled by the 49ers, the reality is that Andrew Cavenagh bought shares from Dave King for reasons unknown.
Last week at the EGM to rubber stamp his power grab Cavenagh, apparently a pharmaceutical tycoon but no one really knows, his sidekick Paraag Marathe promised that the signings would surprise fans.
Naturally the gullibles clapped and took that news in a certain direction but for more bears the reality is starting to dawn.
Having shelled out real money to buy shares Cavenagh and his consortium have no intention of funding the sort of spending spree that supporters and media messengers drooled over through the spring with their season on the park done and dusted.

Those comments from Follow Follow start to lead fans to the grim realities built up over years of constant failure that has created a bloated squad that barely any other club is interested in.
Last summer’s fire sale of five first team players leaving for £810,000 has alerted agents and buying clubs of the distressed nature of finances at Ibrox.
There is some interest in the better players but no stampeded, Cyriel Dessers, Hamza Igamane and Robin Propper have agreed wages to go elsewhere but the price of those deals is too high for the buying clubs at the moment.
After more than a week of pre-season training Russell Martin has yet to speak to club media about the squad he has inherited, a 1-0 defeat from The New Saints is all that anyone needs to know.
On Sunday Club Brugge visit Ibrox for a friendly, the only public friendly before Panathinaikos visit in the Champions League.
There is unlikely to be much of a fanfare for the vegan, Buddhist in the dug-out as supporters look at a team sheet containing most of the flops that went three months between home wins last season.
Led by the Daily Record and BBC Scotland the messengers aren’t going to comment on any form of dissent, unfortunately the supporters are starting to waken up to the fact that they’ve been duped again which is rarely a pretty sight.
Oh aye a Dundee player and a loan
Exciting times ?— Airheads (@Xme4ux) June 23, 2025

Looks like the yanks have lost their wallets with that £120 million transfer kitty inside it.
Oh dear !! it would seem the swallowers have been duped again !!! Gwan A C ya good thing yer playing a blinder kid !!! Chortle !!
It looks like they are waiting to see if they qualify for the champions league, maybe then the r*****s fans might and I say might see one or two signings , we still need to go out and spend £20m on two or three really good players , I’ve a feeling that this board will wait until a player is sold for £20m before doing that , fingers crossed we get this transfer window spot on HH .
