Brendan Rodgers has turned on Alasdair Lamont in a post-match interview following Celtic’s 4-1 victory over Falkirk.
The BBC Scotland reporter has a long running dislike for all matters Celtic, while his colleague Kenny Macintyre at least tries to fake enthusiasm and interest Lamont would probably have preferred to spend his night at his local bowling club or updating his stamp collection.
Lamont has spent his entire career inside the BBC bubble where diversity extends to sharing top banter with Andy Halliday, Steven Naismith, Billy Dodds, Cammy Bell or Neil McCann in the elite 1872 WhatsApp group.
Rodgers has made his thoughts on the transfer window crystal clear over three competitive matches, no-one is in any doubt that he is hoping that his forward-line is boosted before the transfer window closes.
Straight after the impressive win over Falkirk Lamont was insisting on transfer updates despite Scotland’s most successful manager having spent the previous three hours fully focussed on matters on the pitch.
Tuning in to Lamont’s pain and discomfort on Sportsound the Daily Record reports:
But a frustrated Rodgers replied: “I don’t know, I have just come out of the game here. We will wait to see, we have named the squad before the game, if not that is the squad that we are going with.”
Pressed on if he was optimistic about getting any deals done, he said: “Ok, let me repeat what I have just said. I have just finished the game. During the 90 odd minutes of the game, I don’t know anything. I don’t know anything. There might be, but there may not be, but we have the team that we have.”
Simply frustrated and rightly so with the pathetic journalism!! He was asked before the game the exact same question, what is really going to change during the match.
Seriously that’s as bad an interview as I’ve heard!! BBC Radio Scotland at its best!!— Frank McCready (@McCreadyFrank) August 15, 2025
Perhaps Lamont and his colleagues at BBC Scotland should be pushing for an interview with Michael Nicholson rather than acting as messengers for those inside Celtic that are briefing against their manager.
Nicholson has been in the job of CEO for 47 months with just one media interview, sitting between Rodgers and Peter Lawwell when the Irishman was introduced as Celtic manager in June 2023.
During that interview Nicholson revealed that the ambitions of the club were to be world class in everything that they do.
It is a very short list of categories that Celtic are world class in, it certainly doesn’t include player development, recruitment and scouting, fan engagement and communications.
Good to speak to @philippe_clemnt today about his time at Rangers. Much more of this to come over the next few days across @BBCSportScot including the extended interview on @BBCSportsound on Sunday from 2pm https://t.co/HXtD3VUCoQ

Lamont will be the life and soul of the party at Ibrox tomorrow for the cup tie against Alloan looking for selfies and autographs before his soft soap interview with Mr Russell Martin.
BBC Scotland is entirely funded by the TV tax.
Absolute wee fud, gone all bohemian to try and stay relevant – and distract himself from the pain of being a tribute act follower.

Don’t give that hun shit show the fucking time of day
Your suggestion that Lamont is acting for someone inside Celtic…is surely miles away from reality…Or have I mis-understood your comment.??
Editor: Check out managed decline for further detail.
I don’t get that either Editor..but no matter…We’ll put it down to me being thick.
Editor: Take a look at the transfer activity of summer 2018, January 2019 and summer 2023 to make the picture clearer. What an XI you could select from the players signed over those three windows, with Barkas added in goals.
BBC Radio Scotland reporters have all been distressed since 2012.
BBC
Don’t watch
Don’t listen
Don’t pay
Perfectly league
Legal.
If you still pay the “viewing tax” then you are endorsing their view……
I don’t need to pay because I only watch Springwatch and Football !
I always thought Richard Gordon to be a first class radio journalist and enjoyed his shows. This was despite my father warning me never to listen to hunpot radio. I was working in Nigeria in 1987 when David Francey said ‘The result all of Scotland wants, Rangers 1 Celtic nil’. That was typical of the BBC then. Hasn’t changed. Catholics need not apply! The EBT squad in there now is nothing short of a disgrace.
I sent him an e-mail years ago asking him to stop saying he was an Aberdeen supporter ..when it was obvious who his favourite Club was…He never replied..Shockaroony.
Ah the diversity of the BBC……you can be black/gay/muslim/disabled or whatever.
Just don’t be an Irish catholic.
Editor: They have House Paddy covering that box.
Joe…that man has sold his soul
Was Alasdair Lamont not interested in the Celtic result? or was he more interested in stirring the pot. Hopefully he will be in the same mode at Ibrox.
