15th August 2026; Tannadice Park, Dundee, Scotland; Scottish Cup Football, Dundee United versus Celtic;
After being benched for Celtic B’s KDM Trophy defeat away to Ross County Lucas Clarie responded in style with a first half hat-trick against Beith in the Lowland League.
Ross County are clearly a far better team than the Ayrshire Junior side but Clearie’s stats for the season are incredible.
After 13 Lowland League matches the 17-year-old has scored an impressive 18 goals.
In the KDM Trophy Clearie scored five times in four group stage matches but had to step aside for Shim Mheuka for the knock-out match against Ross County.
It was a tough test against the League One leaders. Joel van den Berg and Landon Emenalo were also included but Celtic lost 2-0. Goakeeper Corey Shaw was praised for his performance.
Missing out on that match would obviously be a disappointment but Clearie wasted no time reacting today.
Three first half goal settled the issue today with Clearie back on the goal trail.

THE INCREDIBLE GOAL SCORING RATE OF LUCAS CLEARIE
Clearie went into today’s match with 15 goals from 12 appearances in the Lowland League West.
By half-time he had added three more with goals coming in 18th, 42nd and 45th minutes.
He is scoring at an incredible rate for a team firmly in mid-table.
Celtic B started today in seventh place with a record of Won 6, Drew 4, Lost 2. Celtic B had scored 31 goals with almost 50% coming from Clearlie, tonight he has over 50% of the goals scored.
With his rate of scoring there is likely to be demand to take Clearie out on loan in the January transfer window.
Finding the right club to continue his development at a higher level will be a tough task.
Celtic do have Co-operation Deals with Dumbarton and East Kilbride although the EK deal doesn’t seem to be working out for Liam Kennedy and Rhys Dargie.
Kennedy has been restricted to one substitute appearance for East Kilbride, today he was captaining Celtic B in the Lowland League.
Against Benfica in the Europa League Clearie was named as a substitute.
