Tony Hamilton hit a real low point at the mass in St Mary’s to commemorate the founding of Celtic.
The parish in Abercrombie Street was where the idea of forming a football club to feed the needy of the area was proposed.
Now, 139 years later Celtic provides eye-watering salaries and perks for bang average employees with Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay at the top of the tree.
Nicholson and McKay were at the service when Hamilton got up to praise the way the board while paying lip service to charity. Much like Monday’s visit to Greenock to tick the fan engagement box ahead of the 2026 AGM.
In the year to 30 June 2026 Nicholson and McKay took £1,530,706 out of Celtic. Nice of them to think of St Mary’s on Wednesday. What a lifestyle Brother Walfrid has provided then with.
Everyone knows that there is a huge divide at Celtic.
Many fans have no time or respect for the club executives with protests against them in some form at almost every match.
But no fan takes that anger or hostility into a church. To the pulpit.
Those attending Wednesday’s mass at St Mary’s did so honour the founders of the club. Not to pick sides in a deeply divisive argument.
Hamilton, CEO of the Celtic Foundation decided that the pulpit was the place to sing the praises of the men that have provided him with a very comfortable lifestyle.
DOUBLING UP- THE CAREER PATH OF TONY HAMILTON
As well as the CEO gig he draws another salary as Head of Corporate Projects at Celtic. In 2026 charity work is very difficult and challenging. Not many Charity CEO’s have the time for another highly rewarding job. Tony manages two tasks.
Not many DJ’s from the nineties have enjoyed a six figure salary plus perks for more than a decade. Hamilton has managed that inside the Celtic gravy train
@eddie_toner There use to be loads of employees around the club who were real good people. The majority I see now even down to the pitch response are arrogant bastards who look down and sneer at the support and have an audacity that is beyond belief. The clown you referred to, should be raced

On Linkedin he describes himself as:
Internationally experienced, MBA-awarded Chief Executive, Marketing & Media professional with a progressive background in the professional sports, charity, and media industries.
His profile features an image of Celtic Park Haiti, a reminder of one of many jollies provided by the club down the years. Developing relations in New York has been something of a passion for Hamilton.
From pre-match and half time announcer he got a few pieces in the Celtic View in the late eighties as he cut back on spinning vinyl as a full-time career opened up.
From 2003 he became Media and Marketing Director at Celtic having no outside of Celtic experience or qualification.
Wile performing that demanding task Hamilton also managed to get himself an MBA in Business Management from Strathclyde University.
In August 2015 Hamilton posted a recommendation on LinkedIn for Paul Lawwell of Open Goal:
Paul has a fresh and compelling approach to marketing and challenges the norm. He has worked on various projects for us and brings an energy and expertise, which suits our needs. Paul can deliver a tailored marketing solution across multiple platforms efficiently and effectively, and he is very much a creative thinker.
Over the last decade Hamilton has been by the side of the Celtic board at almost all domestic away matches. In March 2018 he was especially pleased to get a selfie with Steven Gerrard inside Ibrox.
Life inside Celtic has been fantastically rewarding for Hamilton. He has a salary and lifestyle that he wouldn’t get near outside of the club.
It seems that he has lost touch with his roots and reality climbing the career ladder.
The responses to Toner’s tweet suggest that he has rubbed more than a few people up the wrong way as he used charity to further his own aims.
