Gus Lagerbielke is on his way back to Celtic with the hoops drawn against SC Braga in the Europa League.
The 25-year-old had a bizarre two year Celtic career that covered almost every possibility before he moved on to the Portuguese side at the start of July.
Celtic signed Lagerbielke from Elfsborg on 18 August 2023, two weeks later he formed an unlikely central defensive partnership at Ibrox with Liam Scales as Celtic emerged 1-0 victors.
While Scales went from strength to strength it seems that Lagerbielke’s Celtic career ended the following month in Rotterdam when he was red carded alongside Odin Thiago Holm in a 2-0 Champions League defeat from Feyenoord.
Celtic will be back in Rotterdam in the Europa League with the dates still to be arranged.
Life turned full circle for Lagerbielke on December 15 when he replaced Stephen Welsh in the 75th minute of the home match against Feyenoord then scored the winning goal to give Celtic their first home win in the Champions League for over a decade.
That goal didn’t seem to impress Brendan Rodgers, Lagerbielke failed to make the matchday squad for the next match, a home defeat to Hearts.
Last season the Swedish defender was on loan at FC Twente which included a 1-1 Europa League draw away to Manchester United.
Celtic will also play Roma, Sturm Graz and Utrecht at home with away matches at Feyenoord, Bologna, Red Star Belgrade and Midtjylland.

He’s been told he is out the door,he will see sevco game out this weekend,with wee Barry and his cronies relieved of their media duties to slip back into the brogues and blazers.
Forgot the names that will get a mention in the merry-go -round of transfer bingo.
Hence wee Barry’s non-critism of the Morrocan Messi and his antics as well as other players like Ronaldo Raskin, he will be back there coaching them if they are still there with the other DUDS, so he will need them to be with him not against him, hence the backing of the players.

Just catching up on PL being at the CL draw, and one thing struck me…
PL has been a “European Club Association [ECA]” Board member since 2014.
[So he joined when he was the Celtic CEO.]
Currently, the ECA website quotes;
“…Peter has represented Celtic FC on various UEFA committees and is now
Vice-Chairman of the ECA and
a Board member of the UEFA/ECA joint venture (UCC SA)
and member of the ECA Executive Committee…”
The question is:
as a supposedly ‘non-exec Chairman’ why does PL still hold these positions at ECA –
should our current CEO Nicholson not be on the ECA Board instead?
And he’s had 4 years to achieve that…
