Celtic’s proposed striker ‘swap deal’ was lying in tatters last night.
While Adam Idah underwent a medical and agreed personal terms to join Celtic talks for Kasper Dolberg to move in from Anderlecht hit the buffers.
Bearing in mind Celtic’s transfer negotiations it is hardly a surprise that an inbound deal has fallen through while selling a player appeared to go smoothly.
After losing Kyogo Furuhashi and Nicolas Kuhn without replacements arriving Brendan Rodgers has put his foot down over the exit of Idah.
A frantic Friday for Celtic transfer news…
Idah £7m deal agreed to Swansea. He heads down, completes medical & finalises terms, while Celtic make progress on Dolberg talks.
As of 9pm today, Celtic still have no agreement on Dolberg and Idah has been called back up to Glasgow. https://t.co/Soh6MDtG5I

How do you rate Celtic's transfer business
OUTSTANDING- exactly what the team needed
ON HOLD- They'll come good by September 1
HORRENDOUS- Looking as bad as 2023
Idah could be back training at Lennoxtown today which isn’t the best of looks ahead of the most important domestic game of the season.
Clearly Celtic would rather have money in the bank than Idah on the team-sheet, as things stand the Irish internationalist could well be playing at Ibrox tomorrow.
With no media duties today the next update that Celtic fans are likely to get is a transfer tweet or tomorrow’s team announcement.

The strategy of selling the first team and replacing them with a Celtic B side is World Class.
A bit late for Brendan to be putting his foot down with regard to big Adam’s sale,is it no ?
He should have insisted a replacement be signed before Kyogo and yer man Khun were papped oot the door !
Like others on here,I cannot get myself energised for tomorrow’s game, where usually I am up for it as soon as the final ball is kicked in the previous game.
This is what our board are doing to the support, instilling a feeling of apathy in lots of hardened Hoops fans, with their kamikaze actions.
How Brendan is STILL there is beyond me,surely he doesn’t think the fans believe this shitshow is of his making.
I wouldn’t blame him if he fucked off as soon as the transfer window shuts.
No matter who they bring in now it’s too fuckin late,as usual.
Get these parasites tae fuck, starve them of their only thought…..CASH !!!!
The board blah! blah ! blah!.
Unless we can find another like “The Bunnet” nothing will change.
Rodgers needs to read the Serenity Prayer-“To accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; ”
McGregor plays forward or not in the squad.
No Hatate.
Idah and Maeda through the middle to pick up KT’s incredible crossing.
Non-stop running on and off the ball.
Shoot when you see the white of their eyes.
First time passing if accurate,
Throw-ins executed immediately the ball is picked up before the opposition gets organised.
etc.
But that isn’t the one we’re getting tomorrow. Will be the same old team and tactics.
Our only hope is if they continue with their ludicrous passing game. Playing out from the back with their new defence will be a gift so we need to take it.
…and something about the board being bad!
Editor: SACK THE BOARD starting with your hero as Chairman and no more cheating by giving his bhoy a job that he is wholly unsuited for.
Ed, Cure all the ills of the world. Claw back global warming. Have everybody nice to each other . Sack the board (How would you even go about doing that?)
They ain’t going to happen anytime soon if at all so we have to go in tomorrow with completely different attitude and that is what we should be dealing with just now.
I remember in one game at Ibrox, Hatate and Scales were terrified and giving the ball away consistently, mind you it is hard to tell with Hatate as that seems his normal game.
Of course I want the board gone tomorrow and competent, team supporting guys in their place but it isn’t going to happen and at the end of the day smaller teams have stood up to Sevco with lesser squads because they deal with the changing tactics etc.
My point is this, Rodgers will put out the same team and tactics tomorrow and then play the victim card and the fans will buy into it.
I look forward to McGregor , CV and Scales having a “passing party” if we are in need of a goal as they did around the 81st minute in one game.
The crowd are now groaning with every pass back.
Editor: It is almost impossible to put a team together when behind the scenes your CEO is working 24/7 to sell your better players while the club Chairman is briefing his network of messengers to undermine all signings that arrived post September 2023 but don’t dare mention Holm, Palma, Tilo, Yang, Palma or Nawrocki
In my defence, I suggested a little while ago that the GB create a tifo with Nicholson and Lawwell wearing Sevco scarves. Hardly hero worship!
Meanwhile we fanny about trying to cut corners with low ball offers for players, while sevco sign Miovski at the drop of a hat with another £11 million worth of players still to come in.
Remind me again who the SKINT club is.
Well, to be fair, the Board is indeed “world class”
…at selling players!
It’s just that everything else it does currently comes across as incompetent?
🙁
I think there’s a lot going on. Rodgers has been clever (finally) with his media interview – by praising the board and saying he’s sure players will be incoming but that Idah will only go if he’s replaced (and Yang), he’s effectively shining a light on how easy it is for the board to negotiate a sale and how amateur they are at bringing in players.
We are already an embarrassment but not just for the defeat in Almaty. Swansea – if we don’t replace Idah and he stays, they’re going to tell other clubs how amateur we are at business deals. As will Hammerby. As will Go Ahead Eagles….pretty soon, we’ll be known as a club you should ignore when we ask to buy a player, because we don’t bid seriously. I mean, where is the plan B for Dolberg and Tounekti?
What does Paul Tisdale do???
What does nicholson do? Seriously, what does he do?
Lawwell, for years, dined out on his sleight of hand, mover and shaker image, rabbit out the hat dealmaker. This is the problem with old business people who are stuck in the past. He’s an ipod in an AI age. As for nicholson, who would take that wet drip at all seriously? He has committed the professional foul of failing to deliver, not only to us but to other clubs. And imagine if Idah got injured on Sunday. Then he stays and Swansea will be fuming at us wasting their time. Our reputation in business is sinking faster than the titanic.
I can only hope the noise and frustration become enough that they cannot keep ignoring the footballing needs. Rodgers is able to now “put his foot down” because he’s probably decided to leave next summer so what harm does it do to call out the board. Before summer, he was probably thinking of staying.
Anyway, as much as I want us to win tomorrow, like many fans, I’m just done in with all the let downs. Hopefully with a new manager next season, it might mean a new look board too. HH
What a shitshow, Swansea striker could start for Celtic tomorrow, only we could royally fk it up pay the cash for Dolberg ffs
Some great comments, but people need to remember that the board mess ups don’t happen in a vacuum, and if it affects us, it affects the players and manager at least as much, leading to what we see on the park…
As far as I’m aware, Celtic have sanctioned a sale that will result in a loss of £2M. We’ve also made an offer that will give them a £3M profit on their player. They’re the ones holding up the deal but, as usual, Celtic are the ones being criticised.
