Dermot Desmond has paid tribute to Tom Allison after one of the invisible men stepped down from the Celtic Board of Directors.
In less than seven months since being set up the Celtic Fans Collective have claimed two boardroom victims.
Allison joins his former Clydeport colleague Peter Lawwell in bailing out at the first sign of trouble.
During 23 years as a Non Executive Director Allison contributed exactly nothing to the club.
Allison was such a non-event as a non-Exec that he never even featured in any of the banners produced by the Collective.
Allison was a long standing member of the Celtic Remuneration Committee. Voting through the bumper pay rises and bonuses for his colleague Lawwell.
In season 2018/19 Allison and Ian Bankier voted through a package of £3.5m for Lawwell on a turnover of £83m.
That season saw Celtic knocked out of the Champions League in a third round qualifier from AEK Athens and lose Brendan Rodgers to Leicester.
Two years earlier it was reported that Lawwell had been hit with a huge tax bill after being caught out in the film scheme that left many in football bankrupt.
ANOTHER OF THE DESMOND YES MEN BAILS OUT OF CELTIC
Allison was vote back onto the Celtic board at the 2025 AGM but five months later he has bailed out with his long term colleague.
On the Celtic website Desmond paid a particularly underwhelming tribute with:
Tom has made an enormous personal contribution to Celtic. He has been a key advisor to me at all stages and brought his wisdom to the many challenges which arose over the years. Tom is a person of vision, and he has brought that vision to all his endeavours.
The wisdom and experience that Tom brought to the Board is unmatched and irreplaceable. I am indebted to him for his wholehearted commitment to our Club.
There are no plans to replace Allison and whatever his skill-set was.
The big question now is which of the non-event Directors will be next to bail out.
Brian Rose is the only Director that has been on board for less than 10 years. Like Allison his contribution has been hard to identify.
None of the Celtic managers during Allison’s spell as a Director has commented on his decision to step down.
Allison failed to raise any concerns over the horrific appointments of Mark Lawwell, Paul Tisdale or Wilfried Nancy.
All were appointed by Michael Nicholson, another suit that owes his Celtic salary to Lawwell Senior.

Allison – Another fu**in lassie that was on The Celtic Board !
