Johnny Kenny made it three goals from as many matches as he netted for Bolton in their 5-1 victory over Stevenage.
While Celtic chop and change their front line in a bid to find a scoring formula everything seems to be falling Kenny’s way.
Bolton are third in League One with a play-off place and almost assured of a Play Off spot.
Kenny has scored in successive matches against Plymouth, Stockport and now Stevenage.
While the Irishman has hit form the Celtic strikers seem to be drawing blanks.
Tomas Cvancara has scored twice in the SPFL since his January arrival. Junior Adamu’s only goal came in the Scottish Cup while Kelechi Iheanacho has one SPFL goal this season with a 90 minute appearance seeming beyond his capabilities.
55 seconds- Kenny puts Bolton 3-1 up.
As it stands the return of Kenny and also Shin Yamada are the main striking options for Celtic next season. Callum Osmand could be in the equation but has only three substitute appearances on his CV.
Kenny has been almost the last resort striker at Celtic following a very successful loan spell at Shamrock Rovers in 2024.
The failure to replace Kyogo Furuhashi was followed by selling Adam Idah.
During a short period Kenny scored four SPFL goals as well as the opener in the League Cup semi-final win at Hampden.
Under Wilfried Nancy nothing seemed to work out for Kenny.
Away to Dundee United he missed a string of straightforward chances that seemed to send his confidence into a tailspin.
When Cvancara and Adamu arrived it seemed that playing time would be extremely limited for Kenny.
Now that he is scoring freely for Bolton Celtic fans are wondering if he could have provided the answers to the scoring issues that have dogged this season.
Kenny now has 10 goals for the season across two clubs. In the SPFL Premiership and League One.

Strange (or perhaps not ) that he is scoring for fun in a league that is in truth a higher league than Celtic play in !
