As every Celtic fan knows no assaults were committed on any Hearts players on May 16.
Around 300 Celtic fans were on the pitch after Callum Osmand scored against the Edinburgh side but despite the best wishes of the Scottish media no players were assaulted.
There was a week long frenzy when the ‘players were assaulted’ line was aggressively pushed.
The bastion of truth justice and honesty, Pat Nevin was in at the origins of the claim but once again the former hipster drew a blank.
Nevin was on radio duty for the BBC when he made the claims, backed up by Allan Preston as they watched their Hearts title dream fall apart.
The BBC haven’t corrected the assault claims broadcast by Nevin. Instead he is being rewarded with a junket to the World Cup Finals where he will be part of the team alongside Kris Boyd and Neil McCann.
BBC UNABLE TO DETRACT FROM CELTIC SUCCESS WITH HEARTS ASSAULT CLAIMS
The scenes at Celtic Park weren’t pleasant, Fans were denied hearing the final whistle as Celtic players celebrated while their opponents felt the despair of failure.
However no Hearts players were assaulted as Chris McLaughlin sheepishly confirmed.
@PatNevin it’s time for you to either apologise for your blatant lies, or it’s time for @BBCSportScot to relieve you of your duties. pic.twitter.com/eUSkB8hs6x

And that was it. No report on the BBC website, just one tweet from their Sports News reporter.
For a solid week there was constant claims about players being assaulted.
Celtic fans realised that by 7pm on the day of the match that no-one had been assaulted.
If they had the incident with the assailants blanked out would have been on a loop on Sky Sports News and Sky Sports.
That broadcaster had 19 cameras at the match.
They are capable of picking up Paul Tisdale having a sleep during a match. There was no evidence of an assault.
Last Wednesday, a full four days after the match Tony Bloom told listeners to TalkSPORT that ‘one or two players had been assaulted’.
Of course Jim White didn’t probe him on that claim. He was happy for the claim to be out there.
Alas, for media types, the assaults claim can now be filed alongside the fabled ‘missing minute’.

As each one of these false claims are debunked, they go further and further back in time to deflect from the facts. I wouldn’t be surprised if they invented a story about John Reid … oh, wait a minute.
Nevin is the one I want to see sacked. I am thoroughly sick of his fake liberal, hipster shit. He was very quiet with that liberalism when playing in a racist Chelsea dressing room in front of the UK’s 2nd or 3rd most racist fan group.
I’ve been saying that since the day of the game – if they had any footage of assaults they couldn’t have helped themselves – it would have been looped for days on end. The only assault was by Shankland on a pitch invader and the only violence picked up by any camera was by the camera phone stamped underfoot by the Hearts player. But there was no footage – not from the 19 Sky cameras nor from the dozens of press snappers around the pitch.
Their squeals for points deductions, criminalisation of pitch invasions and any other form of sanction they could think of are exposed to be what we knew they were from minute one of day one – the bitter ranting of a Celtic-hating media who had just watched their season-long dream (not Hearts winning the league – just Celtic losing it) wither and die before their very eyes.
All done and said using our money …public money ! Obviously the highly tried and tested ‘BBC Verify ‘ only applies to the english and Wales and Northern Ireland ? The BBC Scottish version is obviously a separate entity where they run and govern it’s own affairs ..to the hilt ?
Not ma money Valentines…
Not then… Not now… Not ever !
