Derek McInnes confronted Steven McLean after his side drew 1-1 at Motherwell.
It was a stormy match with questionable decisions at both ends of the park as Hearts moved four points ahead of Celtic.
Next week we’ll know if it was a point gained or two lost.
Going into the match Celtic had to win all of their matches and make up a gap of five goals on the Edinburgh side.
Now the hoops ‘only’ have to win their final three matches to claim the title.
Hearts were fortunate with their first half equaliser when Lawrence Shankland pushed over Stephen Welsh.
MCINNES AND BOYD SET THE AGENDA
Typically Sky Sports decided to focus their attention on a 66th minute clash between Alexandros Kyziridis and Tawanda Maswanhise.
The Hearts winger darted forward to receive a short corner with Maswanhise moving in his direction.
Steven McLean didn’t stop play but was sent to the monitor by Greg Aitken on VAR duty.

McInnes said:
At the time, I thought it was a penalty.
Greg Aitken on VAR did his job well to bring the referee over and it should have been a penalty.
He had a poor game and you have to get the big decisions right.
I was told that there wasn’t enough contact but at speed, it doesn’t take a lot to go down.
Why would Kyziridis go down? It’s a penalty kick.
I am disappointed that it has not been given. It was a terrible decision and Steven McLean had a bad night.
Soon afterwards Maswanhise had a claim for a penalty when he went down in the Hearts box, again play was waved on.
Last night’s decisions pile the pressure on Willie Collum who has yet to announce the match officials for the SPFL fixtures on May 13 and 16.
Following the match between Hibs and Celtic it would seem unlikely that David Dickinson or Don Robertson can be involved.
If McLean is added to that list it takes away three of Collum’s top six officials.
That leaves Nick Walsh and John Beaton to be over-used. Walsh referees today’s Glasgow Derby.
The next referee in terms of SPFL Premiership appointments is the horrific Matthew MacDermid. He has had a season full of hard to explain decisions.
Going down the list there is Kevin Clancy, Duncan Nicolson and Ryan Lee in terms of Premiership appearances.
As he comes to the end of his third season as Head of Refereeing at the SFA it is clear that the standard is as poor as when Collum was out on the pitch.

I hope and pray that MON can wring out anther 4 performances from this squad and pull off what would be one of the most remarkable doubles ever achieved! A superb extra wee bonus to top that off is then that every time wee Del looks at or someone mentions his manager of the year award it reminds him of his failure 🙂
