Ryan McDonald of the Daily Record has been forced into a sharp u-turn.
On Sunday he brought the good news that Marcelo Saracchi was on the brink of signing for Celtic.
The first signing of the summer, the ball was rolling, good news for fans.
A break in the cycle of bad news. Taking attention away from the multiple boardroom failings.
The inability to appoint assistants for Martin O’Neill, zero real recruitment being done. No news on Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The shambles at Celtic was known a year ago. Brendan Rodgers resigned because of it. Wilfried Nancy was appointed and sacked. Paul Tisdale was sacked. Peter Lawwell resigned.
Celtic are in a terrible state. The outcome of horrific leadership. He inevitable outcome of having Michael Nicholson as CEO.
The managerial brilliance of Ange Postecoglou, Brendan Rodgers and O’Neill masked the gross incompetence.
To mask those failings McDonald broke the good news on Sunday.
Celtic are set to open talks with Boca Juniors over a permanent deal for Marcelo Saracchi.
Record Sport understands the Hoops have held preliminary discussions with Saracchi’s camp. And now Parkhead chiefs are ready to finalise a move that could see Saracchi become the first signing of the summer.
RECORD REPORTER BADLY CAUGHT OUT
There s nothing to back up that claim.
The agent hasn’t held any talks with Celtic, Boca have been dismissive of a deal with Celtic.
A phone call to the agent or someone in Argentina or Uruguay by McDonald could have added substance- or killed the story off.
It seems that the reporter was overly keen to publish so-called good news. He will know his motive for doing that.
Fans have been calling out the woeful state of club management for more than a year.
The failings of Nicholson. A Board full of nodding dogs accepting instructions from one Non Executive Director.
It took until August for last season to unravel. Failings in the transfer market and in Europe.
It takes a special club to conjure up meltdown in June.
That is before pre-season starts with fans yet to hear from O’Neill or Callum McGregor.

Serious questions have to be asked , are there financial difficulties at the club , they are behaving as if something is badly wrong. Anybody who believes a word is now part of the problem, stop giving them your money or you are complicit in the destruction of our club
Lol,an absolute negative article on here as well as in the press, but guess what nobody cares, least of the board.
You mugs all renewed the sesson books knowing the club is run by people that are bigger conmen than there is in the Trump regime.
So the fans are to blame here, not the board, you all new about the GRIFT and still parted with season book money.
You know what they say,a fool and their money are easily parted.
