One hundred and forty nine days after sacking Wilfried Nancy it appears that Michael Nicholson has done very little to justify another five months of his £850,000 annual salary.
Nicholson is apparently the CEO of Celtic. That stands for Chief Executive Officer of the club. The man that makes the big decisions and drives performances at all levels. Including communications!.
Apparently Nicholson was a leading sports lawyer. Not that there are many of them in the limited pool of Scottish Sport. He once did a decent deal for the Scottish Curling Association but virtually nothing is known of his employment background.
Nicholson had been excited by the appointment of Nancy. On the recommendation of Paul Tisdale, another of the dubious and costly appointments made by the current CEO.
The CEO was so pleased to no longer have Brendan Rodgers at the club that he gave two interviews to Gerry McCulloch. Explaining about the exciting recruitment plans for the Frenchman, in January and beyond.

Nancy lasted 33 days as manager. Many fans would have sacked him with a fortnight.
Nancy and Tisdale left on January 5. The CEO that appointed them should have gone as well.
Instead Nicholson has created an even lower profile with the exception of collecting his monthly salary. A true disciple of big Peter, his mentor.

Quite clearly the appointment of a new manager is being driven by Dermot Desmond.
Media outlets don’t disguise the fact. You won’t even find Nicholson’s name mentioned in passing.
He is not involved in the equation. Robbie Keane or Russell Martin could be appointed as manager without a word from Nicholson.
In any properly run PLC it would be a resignation matter. No self respecting CEO would tolerate a Non Executive Director in charge of key appointments.
Nicholson isn’t self respecting. He has no authority other than the job title. Hoopy the Hound will have as much influence as Nicholson on the next manager.
If Nicholson has self respect he would resign.
But he knows that no-one else will pay £850,000 a year for a hologram CEO.
Celtic plc just doesn’t do good governance then?
An NED making the big decisions – and brazenly publicly as well, with regards to the manager appointment.
And that’s it right there: the dysfunction within the club starts at the top with Desmond,

and it trickles all the way down and throughout the organisation.
Couldn’t agree more. But, in reality Mute Mike is picked up by his chauffeur every morning, driven into his office and, if the owner deems him worthy may get a phone call from DD to tell him what he’s to do that day. Otherwise Mute Mike will watch the clock then get into the car and be driven home. Who wouldn’t take that job for that amount of money? 🙂

Appointed by a fat, greedy slug with nil competence. And that suited Desmond and Lawwell perfectly. Hell mend all 3 of them, but their time will come and I hope it’s soon and from now on their lives are hell on earth.
Nicholson couldn’t lead fucking lemmings over a cliff but I do wish he’d try to and take the other two leeches with him.
With Lawwell supposedly gone it may be one down with many to follow but I suspect Lawwell is still in daily contact with that muppet he made CEO. It’s impossible to comprehend how a PLC can be run like this but ours is. Get them gone, fair means or foul!
If you keep giving them your money they’ll keep pissing on you. Its really that simple.
Its up to every individual whether they want to be treated like shit by these scammers.
Not another penny while these bastards are running the club into the ground.
