Alarm bells are ringing at Ibrox two matches into the Staunch Revolution of Derek McInnes.

The former Hearts boss was greeted as a cross between Sir Walter and Mister Struth when he was appointed as Danny Rohl’s replacement.

That appointment came two weeks after Lawrence Shankland was signed.

Young Ross McCrorie was another signing that had staunch stamped all over it with Allan McGregor and Jim McAlister brought into the backroom staff.

All of them got it. They knew the 14 year-old history, no one needed to teach them the anthems of hate sung by supporters.

Friday at Dundee United was a warning sign.

Mistakes were made by McInnes. Delivery was well short on expectations.

CRISIS COMING EARLY AT IBROX

While McInnes was portrayed as ‘one of their own’ in the summer a number of bears have concerns about his appointment.

In November 2017 he turned down the offer to manage at Ibrox to stay with Aberdeen.

McInnes has won less honours that Callum Davidson.

Hearts choked in the run-in to last season’s title.

They lost out to a Celtic side that lost eight SPFL matches last season and went through three managerial changes.

Matches at Ibrox can become a real burden for home managers. Phil Clement lost to Queens Park and St Mirren then lost his job.

McInnes has Hibs, Jagiellonia and St Mirren in the League Cup coming up over eight days.

Anything less than three victories and the traditional autumn new manager appointment could be back in full swing.
