The offer from Celtic to sign Dinko Horkas has been termed unattractive by UD Las Palmas.
The 27-year-old is halfway through a four year contract but doesn’t want to be in the Spanish Second Division for a second season.
Celtic have been linked to Horkas for the best part of a month but have yet to submit an acceptable offer.
With Kasper Schmeichel forced into retirement Celtic are in need of signing another goalkeeper.
Since the start of March Vil Sinisalo has been the first choice keeper with Ross Doohan as back up.
While Sinisalo has confidently stepped into first team football Doohan is more than a year without playing a competitive game. Prior to Schmeichel’s injury the former Aberdeen ‘keeper was third choice at Celtic.
CELTIC BADLY IN NEED OF A GOALKEEPER
Whether it is bringing in an A-lister or an experienced back-up it is clear that Celtic need to sign a new goalkeeper. Martin O’Neill confirmed that need after the first pre-season friendly away to Shelbourne.
Horkas has been an unused substitute in the three pre-season friendlies played by Las Palmas.
Discussing that situation club President Miguel Ángel Ramírez told Tinta Amarilla:
Dinko Horkas is a UD Las Palmas player who has asked to leave the club .
The club won’t let him go because the only offer we have (from Celtic Glasgow) isn’t attractive to the club.
He says it will be difficult for him to continue playing for UD Las Palmas since he had an offer from the Emirates that would have been a lifesaver.
Horkas says he doesn’t feel strong or motivated to be on the team.
From those comments there seems to be no future for Horkas at Las Palmas.
A move to a La Liga club would seem to be the logical solution for the Croatian who played for Lokomotiv Plodiv before joining Las Palmas in 2014 as a free agent.
Incoming transfer activity at Celtic has been slow with just two players signed since the transfer window opened.
The next signing deadline is at midnight on August 13 for the Champions League tie against LASK. Two changes can be made 24 hours before the first leg on August 19.
The full transfer window runs through until September 3 with frustrations growing among Celtic fans.

I wouldn’t expect any other outcome from this tale of woe …would you ? Celtic losing out on signing another player …..it’s a ‘comes with the dinner ‘ reality with this current board as they use their impossible way of doing business attitude !
Save me the excuses
You don’t need to be Nicholson’s palm reader to predict that when the ball is in the CEO’s useless hands the Dinko Horkas deal would be out of reach.
Dermot Desmond’s glove puppet moves the goalposts during negotiations when a deal is at his fingertips, he changes the offer to a lower amount close to an agreement only to save money.
Another player Ernst was of a decent standard, affordable and available to Celtic and Nicholson let him slip through his fingers too. Feyenoord seized upon the opportunity and signed him.
Knowing that it is well below the selling club’s asking price, Nicholson’s opening derisory bids for a player is insulting.
The clubs and the player agents must be reluctant to have dealings with Celtic’s hesitant and unprofessional representatives.
The conduct of unsettling a player and disrupting another club’s planning has made them unwelcome, he is damaging Celtic’s reputation.
The club is in an unsafe pair of hands while divot Dermot and mute Mike are in charge, it’s time for one or the other to hang up their master and servant gloves or run the gauntlet.
I canny keep up with what’s NOT happening !
