Once a week the SFA would publish round up of decisions takes by the Key Match Incidents panel over key refereeing decisions.
Like most issues with the SFA it was surrounded by secrecy. As they try to push the idea of transparency.
From a panel of experts a former player/manager, referee and a pundit would be asked to review incidents at their leisure.
No workings or explanations were ever given. The level of knowledge of the Laws of the Game from the pundit was never published.
But it did tick a box for the SFA. While Willie Collum tried to present the illusion of transparency.
The pundit could include someone as ridiculous as Kris Boyd or Tom English.
After a week of discussion and dissection on a Friday the SFA would publish the findings of the KMI Panel.
The Ibrox club would often use the findings in statements to fuel their paranoia.
Announcing the abolition of the KMI Panel the Herald reports:
The participation of clubs in the KMI panel was voluntary, with some making it known that they did not intend to take part this season, with others failing to elect their own representative.
As a result, the SFA have now written to clubs to let them know that the KMI panel will be discontinued and replaced by regular meetings giving managers and club captains the chance to air their views and incorporate them in the coaching of referees.
Since the KMI panel was set up, a VAR Review Show broadcast by Sky Sports has given Head of Referees Willie Collum a platform to review and explain refereeing decisions, with the programme superseding the independent panel.
The KMI Panel was created by Willie Collum two years ago when he took over as Head of Refereeing.
Collum will continue with the monthly VAR Review on Sky Sport which is all about promoting the Head of Refereeing as a right good guy.
With SFA spokesman Gordon Duncan scripting the show it has almost become a parody.
A month of fixtures are covered in a 24 minute show with the main issues side-stepped around.
When mistakes are admitted there are no consequences. John Beaton, Don Robertson, Steven McLean and the usual suspects repeatedly feature. Naturally no Scottish officials were selected to be involved at the World Cup Finals.
