On Saturday from the VAR studio Don Robertson produced a few favours for St Mirren.
Four days later at Ibrox the old adage that these things even themselves out over the course of the season played out.
St Mirren can feel very hard done to by two decisions in their 1-0 defeat at Ibrox.
Exactly as Celtic did on Saturday night when VAR decided against allowing goals for Camilo Duran and Shim Mheuka.
For Duran’s disallowed effort a dubious blurred still image was offered that clearly wasn’t from the point of contact from Yang Hyun-jun. Other still images are available.
For the Mheuka ‘goal’ Robertson just went completely rogue. With no VAR evidence to deny the goal Robertson instructed match referee Ryan Lee to look at an inconclusive still image. Lee knew that he had to back up the wishes of his senior colleague.
Roll forward four days and Robertson is the match referee for St Mirren’s visit to Ibrox.

In the first half St Mirren attack down the left. With the ball in the penalty box it is laud off as Manny Fernandez wipes out his opponent. A typical action from a former Peterborough defender.
Ferenandez clearly goes over the ball to stamp on the foot of his opponent. Wiping him out.
Play on, Robertson barely bats an eye towards the incident. St Mirren denied.

ROBERTSON BALANCES DECISIONS OUT WITH ST MIRREN
Another mistake from Fernandez but after a year in Scotland he knows that he is highly unlikely to be punished.
His slack pass exposes Dujon Sterling, not the most mobile of right-backs.
As Nikolas Agrafiotis takes possession and heads towards goal Sterling clips his heels.
Robertson has an uninterrupted view from the centre of the pitch.
Agrafiotis has a clear run at goal, he is certainly capable of putting in a shot.
Robertson decides to punish Sterling with a booking. A red card would have seen him suspended for the next match. Against Celtic on Saturday.
Robertson is one of Willie Collum’s favourite referees, someone he can depend on.
It won’t be long until Robertson is back involved in a fixture involving Celtic. He can be relied on.
So far this season the SFA have used 13 referees in Premiership matches. There is no need for the same referee to be involved in back-to-back matches with the same club.
If you check the post he says he got his wording wrong at the end and he meant to say there is no justifiable reason why a penalty shouldn’t have been awarded. The guidance is clear that VAR should have brought the official to the monitor

Lol,in one word of McInnes himself, DISGUSTING,but you won’t hear him complaining now.
They are Friar Tucked as a team,they ain’t going to keep getting by with 1 nil wins.
I would love to see us put 4 or 5 past them on Sunday,even with 1 or 2 goals chopped off or dodgy decisions,because we know what’s coming.
Remember everyone is looking for REVENGE for last season.
