Barry Ferguson and Ian Durrant have been bleating about the Tennents Sixes humiliation.
After beating Celtic 7-1 in the group stage celebrations were at an advanced stage over a triumphant return to Ibrox.
Hospitality suites were prepared for the returning heroes with a rota drawn up for the players to appear in the club store allowing fans to get a personalised picture with the trophy for just £55.
With Ferguson and Durrant in charge expectancy was in the air that Andy Halliday would get his first winners medal since lifting the 2016 Petrofac Cup against Peterhead.
While Ferguson turned to the youth of Halliday, Martyn Waghorn and Daniel Candeias the Celtic squad was from another generation.
Joe Ledley, Glenn Loovens and Gary Hooper peaked more than a decade ago.
At the age of 43 Derek Riordan is long retired from the game but has more natural ability than all of the Ibrox legends combined.
Celtic’s 5-4 victory in the final of the Sixes seems to have set off a few at Ibrox.
@Record_Sport Durrant: “We didn’t even know about the final. They said it was 10 minutes each way. They are elderly players, give them a bit of slack.” https://t.co/8MC6KVWj63

For most involved the competition was a social event which was as good as forgotten the next morning.
But not at Ibrox.
Absolutely not. In time served fashion they are harbouring grudges and giving it the whole ‘this time next year’ chat.
ANGER IS IN THE FERGUSON DNA
Should the event be repeated in 2027 James Tavernier is expected to captain the Ibrox side as they hunt a rare trophy success.
Ferguson told the Daily Record:
We were looked after. We had a good time, just the disappointment, obviously, of losing in the final. Then a couple of things happened after the game, which will stick in my mind. But we move on.
When you’re in it and you get to the latter stages, you’re obviously desperate to win. You can’t win every time. But that was sore. I’m fine with saying that. We move on, wait to next year and we’ll give it another bash.
Durrant told the Five Star podcast:
It was a great spectacle. Working alongside Barry, it was great. The boys and the team we had were excellent but there were just things being made up over the duration of the tournament.
There were emergency loans. I think Ross McCormack played for three teams, the way it worked out.
Dundee brought in McGinn, again playing against us with fresh legs. So he was really fresh. Not using that as an excuse, but there rules getting made and rules getting made.
We didn’t even know about the final. They said it was 10 minutes each way. They are elderly players, give them a bit of slack.
Durrant squealing about rule changes is hilarious, or ironic.
At least during his playing days he didn’t come up against opponents rammed with ineligible players.
A squad where token contracts were registered with the SFA and SPL while millions were paid into offshore trusts.
At the time the players were told that the Trusts were exempt for Income Tax and National Insurance. In 2017 The Supreme Court deemed them liable as disguised remuneration.
The bottom line about the Sixes is that the Ibrox squad were giving it large on Saturday after beating Celtic 7-1. They had their win bonus counted and spent.
Getting something back from Charlie Mulgrew and his team-mates was a sore one for Ferguson and Durrant to cope with.

I genuinely believe if they had a Celtic Sevco condensation race and said Sevco condensation drop came 2nd, said window would be caved in.
If ever anybody needed any proof that they, they being anyone Sevco connected or leaning, are absolute moon howling, rabid, hate filled loons, then the reaction to losing this utterly pointless competition should be held up as the ultimate example of it.
Bat shit crazy every single one of them.
Those Daily Record Sport lads have taken this defeat real bad huh
Ian “Dodo” Durrant was undoubtedly a gifted player from a young age,
…but he was never the brightest. 🙂
