David Low of Celtic Supporters Limited has questioned the appointments of Mark Keane and Raymond Buchanan to the Board of Directors.
Months after ‘interim’ Chairman Brian Wilson promised a refresh the club announced the appointment of one of their biggest individual shareholders with Buchanan to join at an unspecified date.
It was typically underwhelming. What fans expect from Celtic but CSL has looked deeper into the appointments.
A clear timeline of facts suggests that only Dermot Desmond was involved in the appointments of Keane and Buchanan.
It is difficult for Celtic to make any other argument.
For years there was a three man Recruitment Committee, with two of them stepping down from the Board Desmond was the last member standing when the appointments of Keane and Buchanan were announced.
HOW DO CELTIC NOMINATE AND APPOINT DIRECTORS
While the appointments are open to question so to is the process. How were the new directors identified, who missed out and what were the outstanding traits that made Keane and Buchanan stand out from the others considered.
What David’s post means, in plain English:
1?? Celtic’s shares trade on AIM, the London Stock Exchange’s market for smaller companies. AIM Rule 26 says every company on it must keep certain information on its website and keep it current: who the directors are, which board committees exist and who sits on them. It’s how shareholders see who’s running the company.
2?? Board committees do specific jobs. The Nomination Committee finds and recommends new directors. The Remuneration Committee sets what directors are paid. Each needs a minimum number of members present to make a valid decision. That minimum is called a quorum. Below it, the committee is “inquorate” and can’t properly decide anything.
3?? The public record. Celtic’s 2025 Annual Report lists three Nomination Committee members: Peter Lawwell (chair), Dermot Desmond and Tom Allison. Lawwell left the board on 31 December 2025. Allison retired on 15 April 2026. On those numbers, one of the three is left.
4?? On 18 September 2026 Celtic announced two new non-executive directors. So the fair question is this: which committee recommended them, who sat on it, and was it quorate?
These are the kind of questions shareholders are entitled to ask, and Celtic should be able to answer them simply. If the website is out of date, update it. If the committees have been rebuilt, tell us who’s on them.
Shareholders deserve to see how decisions are made. That’s all this is about.

It shouldn’t require the CSL to highlight this issue.
Non Executive Directors are there to scrutinise how the company operates, to ensure best practise.
Sharon Brown, Brian Rose and Desmond are the NED’s currently listed on the Celtic website.
Many issues can be subjective like the appointments of Mark Lawwell, Paul Tisdale and Wilfied Nancy. Clearly the judgement of Michael Nicholson is seriously flawed.
The appointment of Directors should be a black and white matter.
The Nominations Committee must have at least three members to function.
‘Interim’ Chairman Wilson, Brown or Rose could have been appointed to that Committee and came up with Keane and Buchanan to join the Board of Directors.
Lawwell gave two weeks notice of his resignation, after 25 years on the Board there was always a possibility that Allison would step down. Allison and Lawwell previously worked together with Clydeport.
While the club website may have had an issue there is no excuse for not informing Companies House of the changes.
The issue of the Nominations Committee may seem trivial in light of the bigger issues currently facing Celtic.
But if the club and the Non Executive Directors can’t comply with a very basic process it does raise questions about their ability to deal with much bigger issues.
Such as six successive failures to qualify for the Champions League alongside four transfer windows that have seriously weakened the squad.

If Low is right about the board not following rules and procedures im surprised there haven’t been any headlining from the hacks, they’d normally jump on this when it’s Celtic.
Editor: Changed days, they have to stay in the Celtic news loop so you barely read a peep of criticism about DD, Nicholson or ‘interim’ Chairman Wilson.
You’ll hear the square root of f*uck all while Celtic are floundering from The Scummy Scottish Football Media…
Yet when Celtic were flying high the blogs reported that The Scummy’s were kicking Celtic from John
O’Groats To lands end and all the way back up again !
