3rd May 2026; Easter Road, Edinburgh, Scotland: Scottish Premiership Football, Hibernian versus Celtic; Brian Wilson, Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay of Celtic
Joe Clarke, President of the Greenock Celtic Supporters Club phoned up Radio Clyde last night to provide some detail on Monday’s visit from the Celtic board.
It says so much about Celtic communications in 2026 that it requires a radio station and Brother Walf on Twitter to inform fans about what went on.
Rarely will you find Michael Nicholson, Brian Wilson, Chris McKay and other freeloaders together on an evening to discuss Celtic business. Especially with those entitled and anti-establishment fans.
With Kevin McQuillan, Head of Commercial Operations, Iain Jamieson, Communications Manager and various others on the payroll the club has published nothing of substance about Monday’s activities.
News started to appear on social media on Monday night.
By Tuesday morning it was trending on Twitter and elsewhere.
CELTIC LOSE CONTROL OF MESSAGING AND COMMUNICATIONS
At 11.29 on Tuesday morning the club determined to improve communications published the blandest of statements to confirm that the meeting did take place.
Brian Wilson, no longer with Interim in front of the word Chairman described the questions as hard but fair.
As someone who avoids scrutiny and accountability all year round any sort of questioning will come as a shock.

Heard a guy on @ClydeSSB there and he’s covered some of the stuff in the meeting. Seemed to be spot on

For over 50 years Celtic Directors have met fans at the Greenock club, Monday’s invite has been in place for some time but only recently became reality.
Martin O’Neill wasn’t required but while Clarke was in the hall he was informed that the Celtic manager would be joining his Board at the meeting.
Nicholson really is extracting full value out of O’Neill in his capacity as a human shield.
Overall the meeting was mainly a box ticking exercise as Nicholson and Wilson deflected questions away while blaming Brendan Roders and Arne Engels for most of the current problems.
They did churn out the favourite line that they would learn from mistakes without admitting what those mistakes were.
Whenever the club decides to hold an AGM the Greenock meeting will be held up to illustrate how the club cares and listens to fans.
Meanwhile, tonight Celtic Park is likely to be half full as Besiktas visit in the Europa League with Celtic clearly uninterested in European football.
Two years ago today they beat RB Leipzig 3-1 to move onto seven Champions League points after four matches.
Celtic start matchday 4 of the Europa League on 0 points, sitting in 35th place out of 36 in the table.

If the boards intention was to divide and conquer with this meeting then I hope it fails but phoning up that station to keep the rest of us informed ? REALLY .
Another classic example of failing to communicate.
Not forgetting that the big issue is that they don’t communicate because they don’t want their multiple failings going public.
