Smith fearing transfer window exodus

Looking for a buyer

Walter Smith has admitted that every Rangers player is up for sale.

Smith’s squad are in Turkey for tomorrow’s Champions League clash with Bursanspor with the veteran manager dreading another transfer window.

During the summer Smith lost Kris Boyd, Kevin Thomson, Danny Wilson and Nacho Novo from his first team squad but was able to bring in Nikica Jelavic, James Beattie and Vladimir Weiss on loan.

Jelavic and Beattie have made little impact due to injuries leaving Smith trying to squeeze as much as possible out of his diminishing squad.

The Rangers boss is sceptical about any ‘warchest’ claims associated with the alleged takeover from Craig Whyte and is increasingly concerned that he’ll be forced to sell more players in January with Allan McGregor and Kenny Miller both attracting interest.

Smith admitted: “The players are used to it now. Two years ago I had to sit the first team down and tell them they were all for sale. Effectively it’s still the same situation now.

“If possible I’d rather not sell any of them and continue how we are, but if someone comes in and we have to accept a bid we have to get another body in the door.”

The latest leaks from ‘billionaire’ Craig Whyte suggests that Smith will be offered a Director of Football role at Ibrox and confirm that Ally McCoist will be moving into the manager’s job.

Having previously described a deal as imminent the Daily Record is today putting an eight week timescale on Whyte’s takeover.

The presence of Andrew Ellis in the Whyte consortium will have set off alarm bells for Smith after the property developers failed takeover earlier in the year.

Like Whyte, Ellis was leaking details of what he was going to do once he took over at Rangers with three year deals for Smith and his coaching staff promised alongside a new deal for Nacho Novo.

Reacting to that speculation Smith responded saying: “He can say what he likes about me but I would be obliged if he would speak to me before he mentions anything else in the newspapers again.

“I agree with Sir David Murray, if somebody is going to come in and take over the club then do so instead of talking about it in newspapers.”

Roll up, roll up for the sale of the century. Everything must go!! We’ll even pay YOU to take Broadfoot, Lafferty, Beattie and Fleck! If Whyte the billionaire can’t find 90 grand to pay for past debts, how is he gonna supply Wattie (or Sally)with a new year “warchest”? Tragic innit?

  • Stephebhoy says:

What’s tragic about this story is??????

That the Orcs are going for 3inarow, and our board have squandered money, and more importantly the opportunity to trample on the mankie shower.

They have relied on rankers financial meltdown being the difference, and now look what’s happened. We have a midfield that is dysfunctional and softer Joe Bugners chin. A defense made of glass, and aye ready to shatter our hopes and dreams.

We have a trainee manager, and all his pals overseeing the team. They have chopped and changed what seemed a team that was gelling together, their unforced errors have cost us dearly. It seems we are on the
    road to nowhere.

The next month or two is when the league is won, we cannot afford any further slip ups, we cannot give the mankies Christmas gifts every week.

Has been this way for 3 years,we have won 6 trophies in that time plus a European final whilst Celtic have won 2 trophies.

The loss of Dallas and Dougie Dougie will be overcome by the Whyte millions putting Dermot Desmond in the shade

What you going to do when debt is wiped out, who do you focus on then?

celtic maybe, perish the thought, ju

Heard it all before – “Fire sale this” and “Clearout that”. Well, it has still to happen. They still have their best players there – Davis, Bogie and Shagger. We have to concentrate on getting our own house in order. I couldn’t give a feck about the latest fantasy takeover at Owebrox or how much the laptop loyal are creaming their skegs at all those fantasy transfer budgets they are fabricating.

Skitter, you are one to talk of paranoia. Have you read your own recent comments on the WeKnowSFA website regarding the SFA supposedly stitching up your club when it comes to fixture selection? If you are the same wee smelly, brown Skitter that posts on there that is. Just because us Tims are supposedly paranoid doesn’t mean to say you have to stop taking your own medication. Now, do as mummy says and take your tablets sweetheart.

  • Scooter says:

    What??

Drugs for the paranoia kicking on me thinks

  • Frank McGaaaaaaarvey! says:

Having worked in the Mental Health sector it will take a while for the medication to fully implement itself and give the full desired effect. You will still experience feelings of schizophrenia and extreme paranoia but this will soon subside and you will enter into full ‘weearrapeepell’ mode in a matter of days. If it gets too much for you in the meantime your GP should give you some valium (blues, that should suit you nicely) or tems to take the edge off.

Don’t face it alone Skitter, you have a friend! (somewhere I’m sure).

  • Scooter says:

A fine example of a celtic fan

Keep borrowing the Penguin books from the library. With patience, perseverance and not a little willpower you WILL get there! Chin up my vacuous friend!

  • Scooter says:

    No problem CM no problem

  • Frank McGaaaaaaarvey! says:

Now yer talking in riddles. Medication must be kicking in…

  • Joe says:

You have to give Smith credit. Seriously. He is trying the reverse psychology trick again. These are players he is trying to offload due to their costs and while he tried and failed throughout the last transfer window, he will try again this time.

He knows as much as Kenny Miller has been a saviour for his team, the fans still can’t forget that badge kiss in Paradise when he nutmegged McGregor- they hate him.

As for McGregor, he is a loose cannon waiting to go off and Rangers have enough trouble without a guy playing hide the sausage with a mafia linked girl!!

Smith really is good at this stuff. But not good enough because he still has all the guys he was trying to sell off.
