Berwick confident of all clear for cup-tie

|

Scottish Cup Celtic NewsBerwick Rangers are confident that tomorrow’s Scottish Cup tie is under no threat from the weather.

The Third Division club have prepared thoroughly for the match and the windfall that will come from the game being televised by Sky Sports.

Ever since the draw was made the club have been preparing Shielfield for the tie with the latest update from their website giving the tie the all clear.

The club stated yesterday: “With Berwick having avoided the worst of the weather, we don’t foresee any potential problems.

“The pitch covers went on the pitch on Thursday which has preserved the playing surface, which is looking in good condition.

“However, parts of the Shielfield car park remain in a “boggy” state consequently the club recommends that fans driving to Sundays game try to park locally and walk to the ground.

“Alternatively you may wish to park on the Tweedside Trading estate and walk through to Shielfield.”

The weather forecast for Berwick tomorrow is for a bright sunny afternoon with a minimum temperature of -1.

From memory of the 1984 match between the clubs there was a very definite ‘industrial’ smell over the ground from the industrial estate but that won’t inconvenience Sky viewers.
