Andy Gray in as Mike Parry quits talkSPORT

|

Andy Gray Celtic NewsRadio station talkSPORT have signed up Andy Gray and Richard Keys with veteran presenter Mike Parry quitting in disgust.

Gray was sacked from Sky Sports with Keys resigning after their sexist comments and behavious came to light in the controversy over assistant referee Sian Massey at the recent Wolves-Liverpool fixture.

Keys and Gray will take on the 10am-1pm slot that Parry has had for a number of years.

Former Scotland international Gray said: “I can’t tell you how excited I am about joining the talkSPORT team. It’s an ideal opportunity for Richard and me to do what we do best, and that’s talk about sport.”

Keys added: “This is the start of something new and exciting for Andy and myself. We are delighted to be joining the talkSPORT family and can’t wait to get going.”

TalkSport programme director, Moz Dee, said: “The events of the last couple of weeks have been a lesson and have changed them.

“One thing that hasn’t changed however is that they are two iconic broadcasters who have a wealth of experience in the world of sport and that’s what we have to do now – move forward with them as sports broadcasters.

“I think it’s a sensational coup for TalkSport and great for radio. These men have carved out amazing careers in television and were at the forefront of the Sky revolution. I think they are going to have a massive impact on the radio scene.”

Mike Parry, I salute you, you walked away with dignity, something your bosses and that pair of sexist muppets don’t even know exists.

    • Parry is just as big a muppet as them.

      • frredom of speech entertainment of mind says:

Porky was the best entertainment available in the UK – BETTER than any TV debate show (BBC BS) let alone other radio shows (BBC BS)- he was a LEGEND been listening to his highly entertaining ramblings for over 10 yrs now – talksport has truly shot itself in the foot! Owners of talksport GF URSLEVES!!! -James Whale -Gaunty and now -Porky uv lost a listener – nothing left to listen to!!!

        • kathy says:

porky was talk sport i totally agree with above comments i have listened to a few mins of keys@ grey utter rubbish bring back parry@graham plus gaunty_ james whale absolute stars all of them i hope mid morning show flops i certainly will not be tuning in anymore!!!

  • Proffethic says:

I have become an avid listenerto talk sport for a couple of years now.

I admit that most of the time I find myself shouting at the likes of Adrian Durham, Darren Gough because they are irritatingly narrow minded and arrogant. I do sometimes agree with one or other of them.

Hawksbee and Jacobs are more deliberate and less deliberately controversial Good entertainment although Andy very easily succumbs to Pauls one-liners and sounds like Barney Rubble when he laughs.

Finally my best listen was undoubtably Parry and Porkys tongue-in-cheek humour and Mike Graham’s aserbic putdowns made for top notch entertainment.

I am shocked that talk sports executive actually believe that they have made a coup in signing Keys and Gray.

Neither have a shred of wit. Neither can be classed as good communicators. Gray sees himself as the old pro so thinks he knows everything about football. Keys on the other hand knows nothing about sport.

Furthermore why do they believe that these two will compliment each other what evidence is there?

I shall not be listening between 10am and 1pm. I am confident that you have set up a huge flop.

Richard Keys referred to the presence of dark forces playing a part in all that has happened. I think he is probably right…..

    • Redcoco says:

Prof. I salute you !!. I am gutted MP and MG have split. I fear MG will now go as it clearly isnt working with Saggers.

All TS are doing is jumping on there new found fame for a quick buck. And no doubt dragging the whole saga through the mire again. Did you hear that snidey pratt on Hawks and Jacobs ? Grrrrr.

      Radio2 now I guess….

    • Dave Charles says:

I will be switching off from the Monday – Friday 10.00am to 1.00pm slot as well and return for the Hawksbee and Jacobs Show.

  • Malcolm Smith says:

Bring Back Porky Parry ,the man is a broadcasting legend and was the reason I listened to Talksport.

His funny stories and his ability to poke fun at himself will be missed greatly and if Porky moves to another radio station I and many others will follow him.

You seem to forget Porky has a great knowledge of so much more than just football.

    • I so agree with Malcolm. I cannot believe Talksport appear to be excited about signing Gray and Keys.

I will certainly be keeping my eyes and ears open to see where Porky goes. His programme made my day and his natural ability is amazing. Gray and Keys – personality bypasses!!!

      • Badmojo says:

Alan Brazil got sacked and everybody wanted him back and he came back.

The PORKY needs everyones help get rid of the sexists and bring back porky.

All Talksport fans start turning the radios off at 10am bring back MP AND MG long live PORKY …

  • George Burton says:

Mike Parry will be a huge loss to Talksport.
    Talksport will lose many listeners.

  • Dave Charles says:

I’m deeply saddened to see Mike Parry has left TalkSport and even sadder to see TalkSport has seen fit to replace him with a pair of oafs, namely Gray and Keys.

Keys knows nothing about football and Gray is just another tired old footballer who thinks he knows it all. They will bring nothing to the 10.00 to 1.00 spot.

As from Monday 14th of Feb I will vote with my finger and turn OFF TalkSport for the three hour, Monday to Friday spot, previously held by Mike Parry.

Shame on you Talk Sport for stooping so low.

  • Nick says:

How ironic that ‘porky’ should lose his radio slot to a pair of pigs! I’ve been a Talksport listener for the past 11 years, but without mike, Talksport is no more.

If H&J and Alan Brazil have the same level of self respect as Mike they should also walk,or soon find themselves replaced by the likes of Ron Atkinson.

Look forward to listening to the Porkmeister on 5live Many Many Thanks Mike for brightening up my mornings these past 11 years, you are a true LEGEND!

If I ever do hear Keys and Gray on my radio, I sure will SMASH IT!

  • Joe McHugh says:

Good to hear that Parry won’t be lost to the airwaves with 5live getting him to host their 606 phone in next Saturday alongside Robbie Savage. Alan Greene might not fancy some competition.

That partnership shows lots of promise, I can’t see Andy Gray and Richard Keys fitting in with the talkSport audience.

Clearly they are on the rebound and the first hint of more £££££££££ elsewhere and they’ll be offski.

Working 10-1 five days a week could be quite a shock for Gray and it’s a while since Keys was on breakfast telly.

  • steve says:

You shot yourselves in the foot with this decision Talksport. You just lost one of your best presenters, I loved listening to Mike since he was on the early slot with Brazil. I wont bee listening anymore unless Mr Parry comes back.

  • Chrs says:

Well thats my lot with talksport I will be following Mike Parry, still cant believe it

  • Robert Fisher says:

I agree MP and MG will be missed as they brought humour to the mid morning show. I will also be turning off from 10 till 1. Well done Mike looking forward to hearing you soon on another station.

  • Brian says:

    Talksport have’nt got a clue have they,fancy
letting porky go for those two muppets.Porky
was a laugh, and God knows we can all do with that these days,so long Talksport.

  • jackwestjnr says:

now we have lost mr parry, along with james whale and jon gaunt, whats the point in turning the radio on to ts? you have lost another listner

    • Steve says:

I’ve been an avid listerner to Talk Sport for many years only to be left gobsmacked at your treatment of Mike Parry.

The introduction of Grays and Keys has left me speechless why fix something that was not broken big mistake HUGE mistake.

The hours of 10.00am and 1pm have become a big turn off for me, bring back Porky and Graham.

  • Bill Bartoli says:

I cannot believe MP & MG have gone. I will never listen to Talksport again. I tuned in on Monday 14th, listened for 10 minutes and promptly turned off. That’s it for me. No more Talksport. I’ll tune in to wherever Mike Parry goes to next.

  • joe portelli says:

NO MIKE PARRY NO TALK SPORT. I WILL BE TUNNING IN TO MIKE`S NEW CHANNEL WHICHEVER THAT IS.

  • Gary says:

I am disgusted that TalkSport have let Porky go!

The 2 SUPERSTARS are a disgrace and I will not listen to your station while those 2 muppets are there.

Andy Gray is an over-rated *rick

  • Gary Robinson says:

    Come on everybody!

    Follow Porky!

    TalkSport Stinks!

  • Gary Robinson says:

    I still say Gray is a P***K

I have tuned in to TalkSport for years and deserve my say!
Get rid of the GOON’S and I will tune back.

    Untill then, Long Live Porky!

  • dave bygrave says:

What an error Porky and graham were a magic formula, keys and gray! no no
Talksport do same with their best presenters Whale,Gaunt, and Brazil who the station had to give way to pressure and have back.

any way i will not tune into the 10 till 1 slot in the meantime.

  • shambles says:

I along with all the others will be turning off between 10 and 1 bring back Porky and M G. By far the most entertaining show on radio long live Porky

  • geoff says:

Talksport are out of touch with their listners.
Mike Parry was one of the most entertaining presenters on radio. I hope it is not long before we here him again on another station. In the meantime I will not be listening to 1089.
